This game saved my life. I am 31. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and adopted our son together. They are now both 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I found myself lost and miserable. I was self destructive. I got so mad one day from everything spiraling out of my control that I punched some concrete in a moment of overwhelming emotion. That caused me to break my 5th metacarpal in my right hand... my working hand... my games hand.. the hand that I held and carried my children to bed with.. The hand I desperately needed to make sure I could continue to provide. After learning of the severity of my self-inflicted damage, I was borderline suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man with no history of depression or anxiety. I have never had fits of rage, or been one to break down and cry, but I was in a low spot that just really buried me from being able to see the light on the other side. Having nothing better to do, I searched for a game I could play, ONE HANDED while I recovered. I somehow stumbled upon this game and read some of the reviews. I decided that it had to be worth a shot... I must admit, I didn't beat the game too many times, or play nearly as long as some of you. With that being said, after doing so, I had a new found joy and hope for life. I was able to put behind me the pain and suffering that had been cast over me. I was able to experience other peoples joy and happiness. I was able to see the fruits of my "labor". I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minutes to this music long enough to realize that I was going to be okay. After coming to that realization, I turned the game off, and I went back to work. It hurt my hand like hell but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so damn sorry for myself, and I became the father I needed to be in that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving as. Today, I am close friend with my kids mother. We don't fight, or argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents, and friends. I now have 3 kids. My third child is, wait for it, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my own separation, and we just stumbled in to each others life unexpectedly. We have been in a relationship for a year now, and are very happy together. Moral of the story, you never know what life holds in store for you, and if I would have given up when all the odds were stacked against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you
Gremlin's Actua-series was way ahead if its time... And the only ice-hockey on steam... EA - pls bring at least one NHL to steam.
Nostalgia isn't enough.

Gameplay:
When in the 90s we played on our Playstations, this kind of game could be played, but even back then it wasn't the best hockey. EA's NHL was much better. The ice arena is too small, yet there are only 4 players per team, but despite this major failing, the game is unplayable, everything is random, player placement is so chaotic because of the constant clashes between them that we can't create a game. I'm disappointed that EA doesn't want to put NHL games on PC, but I'd rather not play field hockey than play this.
Graphic design:
The graphics are horrible, even for the time, and the game is buggy. The menu is a disaster, the least user-friendly I've ever seen. You don't know what you're clicking on.
I'm always happy to replay games I knew 20 years ago, but this one was crap in '99, and it's even worse today.

If you like sports games, come and discover what's available on steam. This is a fun retro game, but having some issues with the options. Can't find a way to change anything. If someone could help that would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
This game is fun, but definitely better with friends. There are problems with the official gamepad support, but I created and shared a custom config with the missing button that opens up the game menu. Besides that, just know that the start button on your controller might open up the other menu (I'd call it the emulator menu) and the select button (the one with 2 rectangles on a Xbox controller) is used to select game type, teams and such. They could have done it better, but at least it's playable and its a lot of fun. The players are ugly AF but the commentators are funny (they could get annoying if you play a lot) and the gameplay is great. I absolutely love that the teams and players have edited names! Gremlin didn't have the copyrights so they renamed the players such as Wayne Grotzky, even with the commentators naming them. That's absolutely hilarious and at least you have a sense of playing a hockey game in 1999, with all the names that are recognizable. Absolutely worth the discounted price if you're 40+ and like hockey!
I wouldn't be against buying a repackaged playstation ISO and emulator if they bothered to even include a manual. Seems like a relatively janky hockey game, but I don't even know what the buttons are. Refunding this.
---------------------------------------- Sequel to Actua Ice Hockey from 1998 wich had official license for the olympic ice hockey tournament in Nagano 1998. This game here came out one year later (1999) and had no licensed teams or players at all. Gameplaywise it has not improved at all and neither are sound or graphics better. That is very dissapointing. You only got friendlys and a League/season mode or Playoffs with that Fantasy Teams, Fantasy Players and Logos. Its sadly not worth your time and money. Play the first one or NHL series instead. And Note to the Publisher: We need the other Gremlin Actua Sports Games. We need Premier Manager 97, Premier Manager 98 and Premier Manager 99 on Steam. Why they are Not Here? They we're brilliant games back then.
Yes, I would like to recommend Actua Ice Hockey 2 for the family.
