Wish they would continue to work on the game. Unless they think it is complete.
My final review of the year is for Action Arcade Wrestling, a game that is both impressive and miserable in equal measure. Originally called Chikara: Action Arcade Wrestling, this was originally a licensed title funded on IndieGogo for the wrestling company Chikara, which was shut down a couple of years ago following various scandals involving the owner. Despite this complication, development on the game continues to this day, albeit very slowly (this is an old review, LMFAO). Let's start with the aspects that I liked, which are quite a few. For a niche production with only a few thousand dollars of budget, in terms of character customization you are given a ton of options, almost on par with official WWE games in certain aspects, including the ability to download user created content, of which there's a ton of, making it possible to have a very respectable roster of CAWs. The arenas don't have this level of options but it's still, their editor is a nice addition overall. What I don't like about the character customization is that it is essentially a separate application to the game, which requires e-mail and an internet connection to work, and every creation you make cannot be directly implemented in the game, you must first upload it online from the application and then download it from the game. Maybe for many people it is not a big problem but I find this implementation impractical and invasive. The gameplay, as promised by the title of Action Arcade Wrestling itself, is very arcadey, with many over the top moves, power-ups and no consideration for individual body parts. The moveset is fairly large, as are the game modes, at least considering the budget and the lack of more chaotic matches such as elimination chamber, hell in a cell and ladder matches, so if you want to mess around with exhibition matches between editor and modes you have more than enough to have at least a few hours of fun. The hitboxes can be a bit inconsistent, targeting the right target when there are a lot of people in the ring is imprecise, and the AI sucks, so in technical terms we are about average as far as wrestling games go. Jokes aside, the game is clearly a work in progress, I hope these issues will be fixed in the future. From what I've seen there is no direct multiplayer mode where you play with other players, online at least, but you can create a Gauntlet, which is a series of customizable challenges, that you can take on yourself or people online. Unfortunately I didn't find any that I could try created by other players because they are all timed, but having tried mine I have an idea of how they work. Weird lack of some modes like 6-man-tag, for one. There is also the option to create your own federation, with championships and all, but there is no option to write storylines or anything, so I don't understand why they made the effort to implement it, which brings us to the biggest problem of AWW, which is the lack of content. If you can't play against online players, you can't manage your E-Fed and you don't have any single player campaign, after playing a few exhibitions, creating a couple of characters and maybe messing around with Gauntlets what's left? Very little, unfortunately. I'll be honest, the game costs very little and there is tiiiny chance that new modes will be added in the future, but right now after a couple matches, apart from the leveling that gives you options to customize belts and poses, I find little motivation to not turn off the game, even if the games themselves are fun.

FUN game
No Bueno
There is no way I would ever pay 14.99 for this game. I got it during the sale for 3.74 and I feel like I might have overpaid. Its like someone took WCW for NES and added power up buffs to the game. It needs an overhaul for a 14.99 price tag. Badly.
fun
one of the best arcade wrestling games came out so far I'm pretty impressed by it easy to pick up simple to do moves easy to play and you got some realisticness with some fantasy so it's perfect hit detections flawless you can play a match really well and it doesn't have clunky 2D graphics is 3D that's what makes it great 👍🏻
Fun in short doses.
