About

Released for the Atari 2600 in 1983, Bounce attempted to dethrone the ball based gameplay king PONG, but due to releasing during the Video Game Crash, the game saw so few copies made, it never got the chance to properly combat its nemesis.
Now we finish the fight together, with Bounce 2.

The Bounce 2 Physics systems all work perfectly in sync together to create the ultimate playground, both locally and online. Simply jump into the ball for a simple and intuitive strategy, or go for a more precise approach using the right thumbstick. This marriage of physics and open ended player control just feels great to play.

Play with up to 4 Players locally, in all game modes. Will you prioritize Defence, Offence, or Player Elimination? Find your team, perfect your strategy, and take down your opponents!

Bounce 2 uses Photon Quantum, a bleeding edge deterministic networking solution that delivers frame perfect gameplay across all player clients. Every Jump, Kick, Dash, and Goal is perfectly synchronized, whether your playing a friend down the hall, or halfway around the world.

Designed to test each players skill level, this mode is the true proving ground. In Classic Mode, there is no numerical score. Instead, with each goal, the slider at the top of the screen in pushed toward the opposing side. This Tug of War style scoring means the more evenly the matched opponents, the longer the match.

Inspired by Brick Breaker, Brick Mode has each player breaking through a wall of bricks in order to score a goal. If the ball goes past your wall, your opponent scores, but your wall will be regenerated. Each round lasts 2 and half minutes, so works well if you want a quick competitive round.

Inspired by mini-game centred titles like Mario Party and Wario Ware, Party Mode is a mixed bag of 9 different modified rounds, randomly selected after each goal. Race your opponent down corridors in RUN, swim and dive in WATER mode, prove your skill in MULTI-BALL, or create your own custom mixture of your favourite modifiers in a custom playlist.

Inspired by the graphics and limitations of Bounce (1983), and perfected by years of experience with analog monitors and television, Bounce 2 features a CRT TV shader like you've never seen.

Bounce 2 was designed with Analog equipment in mind. Nothing is more frustrating than buying an HDMI to Analog adapter online just to have your game cut off, squished, and fundamentally unplayable!
By including a CRT Calibration setting, Bounce 2 allows users to fine tune their signal in game. Shift the position and scale of the signal until the Bounce arena lines up perfectly with your unique CRT. Its a simple addition, but makes a huge difference.

Been following the designer of this game who goes by Mr.Jackio for a long time now. He's a really good graphics designer that is also a CRT freak like myself. This is one of those games that takes about 2 minuets to learn but you could play it forever. It's really easy to explain it away as "battle pong" but the physics are much deeper and I expect this game to have a hardcore group of freaks that blow it up to its molecules. It's truly a BEAUTIFUL game very thoughtfully designed and sound design is great. Also for the CRT people this is probably the only modern game that I've ever seen have CRT support beyond just screen scaling. You can bump your resolution down to 240p if you want! Overall this is an very fun game that you can play for 10mins or 3 hours at a party and at $10 its a no brainer. It's file size is under 1 gig so you can run it on anything. Play Bounce 2 it rules.
This game would be amazing, if it had 4 players online. I love everything about it, except for that limitation. Please add this.
Spot on retro-aesthetic and a nice balance of 2d rocket league, wind jammers and pong. Beware "One more game" syndrome
Really really really fun party game! The crt shaders & graphics are the best I've seen in any modern video game, the attention to detail is second to none. The gameplay itself is just really straightforward and, most importantly, fun to play! I hope Digital Joy continues to add more maps, modes and artwork in the future, I can see me and my friends coming back to this very often!
As someone who loved the demo for this game, I'm not really sure what happened? For starters, there are serious lag spikes I've had while playing on my steam deck. The game used to run super smooth when I played the demo on both my PC and my steam deck, but now this game only plays well on PC. Secondly, I appreciate the addition of new AI characters you have to defeat, but some of them are WAYYY too hard. For instance, Wendy was a character from the demo that had a reasonable amount of difficulty, but now they added this new run sequence that is borderline impossible. I only beat it out of pure luck. Not to mention some of the later characters are just ridiculously unbeatable. Furthermore, the look of the game just feels...off? At least compared to the demo. The "bloom" effect on the text in game is WAYYY too blown out, and I know you can change it in the settings but it still doesn't feel right. I will say, it mostly just looks weird when I'm playing on my steam deck which has an OLED screen, so maybe that has something to do with it? The demo looked fine on the steam deck though so idk. Regardless, it just doesn't look nearly as clean as the demo they released prior. Overall, I think this game is really cool though. I just wish it performed better on the steam deck which was primarily how I played the demo, and I also feel like this game would make a great pairing with the steam deck.
A very well put together competitive ball game. The visuals, SFX and music are all 10/10 - an obvious love for analog hardware brings this easy to learn, hard to master game to new heights. Buy this game.
Played a few hours of the demo and i enjoyed it. This game looks f'ing MAGNIFICENT. The CRT filter works really well and the fact the game encourages and gives the tools for you to play on an actual CRT TV makes it one of a kind (to me). My only gripe with that is, for some reason, the game's locked to 4:3 resolution. Fine if you're playing like what the devs wanted you to on a CRT, but if you're not someone with one of those lying around it's kind of odd having all the space on the sides be only black. Plus, the trailers SHOW it being played in 16:9, so did they just.. cut that? Or is it just my monitor? Gameplay-wise I've got no issues. Very pick up and play, and with the various modes I'm sure it'd make a superb party game. But for a game designed to also be competitive with MMR and whatever this World Games stuff is, how is there no training mode of any kind? The closest you have to that is matches against bots (which, if this game is meant to have no skill ceiling, will become irrelevant sooner rather than later) and the online matchmaking lobby that just removes the other player for you to kick around the ball. AT LEAST give us that. This one isn't big but let me use the d-pad to control the menus. For a game designed around controllers that's kind of a stupid mistake to make. Also, I'm like 90% sure I'm only fighting bots online. Not a big deal for a casual player like me but will absolutely be a problem in the future for people trying to take this game seriously. I'm optimistic that the devs can patch these issues soon. Besides that, it's a really fun game to play!
There is 2 and there is bounce. Game of the year.
Christened this bad boi on my good ol’ 13" Emerson VHS CRT TV. Needless to say, my heart rate elevates every time I play, and my competitive demons awaken whenever I hear those *drops falling into water*... **BOUNCE.** Brother-man, men, people – the graphics and sound design are absolutely mint. 10/10 art style with an unmatched attention to detail. Fantastic job bringing this one to life. I’m sure the process was (and continues to be) incredibly rewarding. Gameplay There is no better feeling than absolutely smacking the ball into your opponent’s goal at Mach 10. It’s equally satisfying beating them to the punch the following round, except this time bouncing it off the wall and watching them watch it bank its way into another gooooooalll. More Feedback The addition of the World Games is FANTASTIC. (Currently playing for Palestine – 1v1 me.) The voice acting for this event is superb, and some of the lines have genuinely become vocal stims at this point. Questions What are the leaderboards based on? Is it MMR? I rarely play Party, but somehow I’m ranked among the top players on the leaderboard for that mode. Just curious! The final two achievements I have left to unlock are Head of Bouncing and Bounce 100k. Are you hiding a secret head behind the Bounce 100k achievement? (hehe) The Head of Bouncing achievement didn’t pop after hitting Level 50 on the Bounce Pass Premium+ (clever) and beating all players in Solo. Feel free to keep your secrets, but gahdamnmf 100k bounces is really going to take me a FAT minute. Am I actually mollywhopping developers like Garth, or is that just a bot in Online play? Plead the 5th here if you so choose. Suggestions 1. Seasonal tournaments where winners can earn commemorative heads, colors, or other cosmetic rewards. Making bracket progress visible would be NEAT but maybe not such a good idea to prevent people from betting on them. 2. Introduce titles that players can strive toward in-game. Something like "Headhunter" for removing the bodies of 100 players. Think a system similar to the ribbons from Gears of War. 3. For all that is good: KEEP THE LEADERBOARDS. If anything, expand them by adding options like player flags or other ways to represent yourself. Leaderboards have been a huge contributor to the replayability for me. I just don’t fully understand how they’re tabulated for this game. Absolutely fantastic work. Keep bouncin' y'allllll.
