good
Pros: Interesting gameplay at first, clearing out rooms without being noticed, parkour and stealth Cons: very repetitive and can get boring rather quickly Conclusion: has potential, just needs more diversity in its game play to keep it fresh 5/10
Where Acid Spy lacks in it's graphics is made up for and exceeded in it's game play, fast paced stealth is incredibly hard to find these days and it's great to see the way the developers pulled it off, the movement tech is fun, deep, but not to complicated to figure out. It breaks the trend in most stealth games where they force you to take the more methodical approach and allows you to rather enter a flow state of hit and running, if you're fast enough you'll be able to finish a level before any of the guards start to really pick up on your presence, with that said the methodical approach is in no way discouraged, you may choose to hide bodies and utilise your gun a lot more. Acid Spy is a game I wish there were more of and it's a shame to see it's flown under the radar.

Bon jeu défouloir qui aurait mérité davantage de publicité. Esthétique et musique, gameplay, tout est bon, rien à redire.
This game gets a passing score because the core game play works even though it's repetitive and the jumping mechanics are ridiculous. The game feels kind of like Metal Gear: VR Missions on PS1 but the objective in every area is the same: kill all the enemies and reach the exit. The thing is that despite the fact that this is an indie stealth game with some really flawed mechanics the idea of the game is great. Your pistol gets four shots and they only replenish when you knife an enemy. You can also dash, wall jump and use a rudimentary form of sonar to approximate the enemy's location. I only played this on hard and every enemy killed me in one hit so getting detected meant instant death. Even though it's repetitive the combat controls are pretty accurate and you can always dash if you get bored, granted the faster you move the more you risk dying. There are some extremely frustrating areas in this game including parts that took me over an hour to complete. Really unless you are lucky the only way to do it is memorize the spawn points because if the enemies see you, you die immediately. They can spot you from across the map and they will all be on you and kill you before you have a chance to reset. You can hide bodies and this gets really annoying in the later stages as the enemies wander all over and you need to hide every single body to make sure they aren't detected, and even then they will still be detected. The soundtrack is excellent even though it doesn't fit the game. The worst thing about this game is the horrendous platforming. The game expects you to wall jump in an FPS and that's as awkard and terrible as it sounds. I didn't get stuck for too long on the platforming sections but they were very obtuse and irritating all the same. I was pleasantly surprised by how functional and challenging this game was, and even though it frustrated me to no end it's a very well done, albeit repetitive stealth FPS.
The flow of the movement and the pace of the game is peerless, to me the game is almost in a category of its own the way it combines speed and stealth. The AI can be a little unaware, especially at lower difficulty settings, but it still presents a challenge to anyone who enjoys doing something well and not just well enough. Not even to mention the music, etc. 10/10 would recommend
Edit: I am changing my review to positive because the developer published an update that allows individual sections to be skipped via the in-game menus. This has fixed the only concern I had about the game, and I now give it an unreserved positive recommendation. My thanks to the developer for being so responsive and for creating an excellent indie stealth game. Original review is below: --------------------------------------------- The parts of this game that are pure stealth are awesome and I would love to play more of it, but I can't because the unskippable wall jumping/parkour sections ruin it for me. It's like half of this game is trying to be Thief or Aragami, and the other half is trying to be Mirror's Edge. I know a lot of people loved Mirror's Edge but I hated it, and I am really not interested in parkour gameplay. If it were possible to skip the parkour sections, I would have gladly kept the game just for the stealth sections and given it a positive review. If you think you would enjoy a game that is a combination of Thief/Aragami and Mirror's Edge then give this a try; it is well made and fun to play if you know what you are getting into, but unfortunately it is just not for me.
