If you enjoy bullet hell games, you will enjoy this game! Really fun!
It bangs.
I would like to thank the dev for fixing the lungs issue which made progressing impossible. For a bit I genuinely thought this game was abandoned. Only beaten the Cold so far, but the big standout of this game is the music and bosses. It's like one giant isaac floor where you progressively get stronger. I really enjoy it, but will probably add a better review when I complete it.
A pretty cool game actually. It follows the standard formula: run around different rooms in a grid-based map and shoot foes. You can open up the "upgrade menu" at any time and use your accumulated resources to trade them for randomized upgrades - you choose normal, rare, or epic and what you get is drawn from a randomized pool. I like this instead of "hoping" you'll run into an upgrade, which is a bit of an annoying mechanic found in other similar games. The game was bug-free and it worked well. I did think the formula was quite derivative - I don't want to criticize but each game should bring it's own "killer feature" and there isn't one here. Just a casual, approachable, easy-to-play bullet hell. It's not for mad-dodgers who can 1CC DoDonPachi in the arcade, but the world doesn't need another diamond-hard shoot em up. I'd say the balance is good for beginners to intermediate players. Gratz to the dev for his achievement of 50+ sales. At the time of this review the game is priced at $8.18 CAD in my region - I'd feel comfortable recommending this to others at around $2.19. Let's be real, there are better games for lower price - but this is still good and I think it is worth playing. Here is me playing a bit, although not terribly well :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9E68zj6De8
PROS: - the music was amazing, it really fit the mood of the game and it allowed to have some BANGERS without it being too distracting - Boss fights, they were well designed with the function of the body in mind, my ultimate favorite was the lungs so far - It is simple but hard, it is just point and click, you dont have to worry about anything else but you do have to actually practice and in my opinion be strategic about it CONS: - very small but there were typos in the tutorial, it didnt lessen my enjoyment however - the ammo that the virus you play as can get lost among everything else, especially other enemies as they can be the same color through upgrades - you cant craft healing, and I dont particularly understand when and why enemies drop health, as a person that isnt amazing at these games it would have been nice to have a bit more direction - I wish there was a way to see upgrade that you have gotten already, like an index of sorts, just for the sake of it OVERALL: A more skilled player would get a lot more out of this game, but it is still engaging and fun otherwise! There are mostly minor issues, that probably has to do more with my skill level and preferences then anything else. For $7 bucks though? This is MORE then worth it!
iTS GOOD :)
