A Vampire Story is a very hit-and-miss game. When it’s good, it’s really good. Out of my total playtime, I’d say I genuinely enjoyed about a quarter of it. When the jokes land, the humour is great, the graphics and presentation are really charming, and the overall vibe is genuinely appealing. But when the game misses, it really misses. None of the puzzles felt satisfying, and some of the design choices become frustrating over time. For example, one particularly annoying quirk is that you can’t carry certain items around with you. Instead, the game to remembers where they are for you, and when it’s time to use them, the main character automatically transports to retrieve the item and then returns to use it. It only adds a few seconds each time, but it feels like unnecessary padding. That frustration is made worse by the protagonist’s slow movement speed. Exploring environments and examining everything can quickly become a slog. My biggest issue, though, was the dialogue - a lot of it just doesn't land. While some of it is genuinely funny, most of it drags on far too long. It often feels bloated, packed with unnecessary verbiage that slows the pacing even more. So overall, I wouldn’t really recommend this unless you’re desperate for this specific style of game. I wouldn’t call it bad, there’s definitely enough here for some players to enjoy, but I think you need a lot of patience to fully appreciate its better qualities.

I love it so much! It's quite chatty but I love the banters between Mona and Froderick. Love the countless references though the younger audience might not get a lot of them. Charming voice acting, yes even Mona and her french snobby accent. Bugs : -You can softlock your game if you recharge your perfume spray before you absolutely need to do it but there's a fix. Go to your game directory (fast access by right clicking the game on Steam and ask to see the local files), then game\assets\scripts. You'll see a bunch of .bin files, the names are lots of numbers. Pick the most recent one (your last save), open with notepad, search (Ctrl+F) "perfume_dumped_inky" and change the value "true" to "false". Save, exit, launch the game, load the savefile, re-empty your perfume spray, all good. -If the game crashes because you're trying to launch a snowball... it's okay! It means you're not doing the right thing actually. You're not softlocked! Gameplay : -No, the game is not super slow! -Space to skip the walking, or lines of dialogues. -Right click when you have an arrow to next location to teleport (or left click then space). -Try to pick up *everything*. -No moon logic, unless you can't figure out the clues. A bit frustrating sometimes to know what Mona is supposed to do and the real puzzle is to make her figure it out, but that's common in point&click games. And sometimes you try random things because you don't know what to do and it leads to Mona kinda trying to make YOU figure it out, one weird action at a time! XDDDD
i remember playing this when i was a kid and loving it ( even if i didnt understand half of the puzzles and jokes lol) i still love it to this day. its funny and it holds up! 10/10
j'attends la suite avec impatience
This is one of those games that I originally played on PC and really enjoyed. However the same can't be said for it on the steam deck. The game just not come with Native control mapping. So that has to all be done manually. Which is annoying but not that big a deal. Although once the controls are mapped they feel kind of cludgy and don't really work smoothly The load times on this game are ridiculously long and I'm not sure why that is. It is literally a point and click adventure game so the long load times don't really make sense. Like when loading a save file it takes between 60 to 90 seconds to load. Which feels really long. Other than that it's okay I guess. I haven't really played it for long enough to really have the full Vibe of the game. Put in maybe an hour or two on it.
Ottime animazioni e molto carina la storia. Prenderò il due sicuramente.
Bill Tiller released A Vampyre Story about ten years after LucasArts' The Curse of Monkey Island was the height of point 'n click adventure gaming, yet it shows many similarities to that classic. The backgrounds have this amazing, Don Bluth animated movie type of graphics style, and the user interface utilizes a variety of the verb coin. Having played for the first hour, this feels like a very slow-paced game, where you need patience to explore since there are quite a lot of hotspots to examine. You play as Mona De Lafitte, a former Parisian opera singer who fell under the spell of vampire Shrowdy von Kiefer. Shrowdy kidnaps Mona and takes her to live with him at Castle Warg in Draxilvania. One day, however, Shrowdy is killed by vampire hunters, and Mona is left alone to escape the castle and return to Paris, finally free of her vampire master's spell. Though alone she actually is not. Froderick the bat is her constant companion, good for most of the jokes in this game, the way Max was in Sam & Max Hit the Road. They kind of have the same accent as well, by the way. It's an awesome voice actor in any case. Mona herself has a higher pitched voice in a French accent that totally fits the role yet might not be for everyone's ears. Examining objects does take longer than in other adventure games, however, since Froderick often insists on giving his own opinion as well after Mona's, usually including one pun or other - which might get to feel a bit tiresome if you're an impatient gamer who wants to move on. Mona is obviously a lady, wearing a pocketless dress, and only limited space in her coffin for keepsakes. So she doesn't pick up everything she encounters, even if she admits the items could be useful. But she does store the idea of the items away, remembering where she can find them should the need ever arise to use them. I thought this was both quite funny and more realistic than your average adventure game. It's not very handy that they linked the use of the right mouse button both to opening up the inventory, and fast-travelling the exits (which I only discovered by accident because of this issue, since first I kept double-clicking them). It happened constantly that I wanted to use an inventory item but accidentally changed locations instead. One of the cons of this game... At least the puzzle difficulty is quite challenging, although that's mostly because it's often hard to find the right items. They tend to be hidden away somewhat. There are so many hotspots to examine, it's really a big game. But after almost 9,5 hours, that final act led to the game's ending cinematic, which I was warned about plenty beforehand. The credits roll when you don't expect them yet, announcing a continuation of their adventure in Chapter Two. I can totally understand how this set a lot of bad blood when that second chapter didn't show up year after year. So I'm glad that the project has been resurrected by developer Tag of Joy, of Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit fame.
