Priced at $0.99, this game has better quality than most $0.99 games I've played, primarily because the dev cares about crafting interesting characters and dialogue. It’s a horizontal scrolling shooter set in a bizarre world where you pilot a flying motorcycle, blasting anything that gets in your way - ranging from regular enemies like robots and animals to some truly strange NPCs and bosses. Some of the creatures are odd I couldn’t even name them, like one that combines different animals together. The environments are equally quirky: one map feels like it’s set inside the intestine, while another one features a more grounded setting with a church I think is real. Honestly, the shooting mechanics aren’t what kept me playing half an hour, it’s the bizarre characters and their interactions that stood out. Additionally, there are secrets in certain levels, tucked away behind black holes. If you manage to enter one, the game switches its style to a vertical platformer, where you climb and navigate to the exit. Upon checking, I found out that the dev are from Brazil. I’ve played several games from Brazilian devs and all of them have their own unique charm, I've noticed Brazilians tend to be really creative people. Weird as hell
Hmmm..... For 89p I suppose there is the question of what you expect from a game when you purchase it. On the one hand you might expect it to be, oh, I dunno...good, or somewhere within the vicinity of passably enjoyable? Perhaps not the longest experience and probably not packed with Hollywood A-listers providing voice-over work, but, you know.....doing its utmost to not be utterly crap. I'm not sure with this game whether it was designed by a child, in which case its understandable that it's not the most polished or sensible experience, or if it was made to be intentionally "not good" and they seem to think that will suffice."Oh! ho! ho!" you'll think to yourself "this is not an enjoyable experience but isn't it funny how intentionally bad it is. That 89p could have gone towards my food or rent or putting my kids through college, but instead I spent it oh so wisely on this hee-lar-ey-ous load of dog faeces. Ha! Ha!" I mean, I get it, this "game" that's been thrown together with all the subtlety and coordination of a Jackson Pollack painting after a tramp has been sick on it, there's a ludicrousness to it that's amusing for about...30 seconds. But then...then...you think to yourself why am I paying for a hodge-podge collection of godawful memes when I could experience them for free on social media and actually playing it is less preferable than having a red hot poker shoved where the sun doesn't shine. As an example: This is a side-scrolling shoot-em-up where you have limited bullets and once you run out of bullets your character just makes fart noises. Imagine committing one of the dumbest design choices in the history of gaming just so you can get a cheap laugh out of it. Did I find it funny? Sure...the first time it happened. After that it was just f**king annoying. It would be charitable describing the graphics as being designed by a brain-damaged chimp, but said chimp would probably still have designed a better game than the presumably non-brain-damaged human responsible for the game-play.....if you can call it that. The plot and cut-scenes are both amusing and amusingly awful, so it's not like I don't get "the joke". it's just that it's a "game" and so one does expect to "play it" Unfortunately that's when the joke stops being funny and it becomes a tedious, badly designed chore. 89p isn't a lot of money and yet there's free efforts out there that show how embarrassingly bad this is by comparison. The really weird thing is there's almost a good game here, since its basically copying side-scrolling shooter conventions in enemy attack patterns, the enemy wave placements and the weapons you can collect. Which, for the most part, actually feel reasonable to shoot...at least when you actually have bullets to fire. It's undone by a monumentally stupid game-play mechanic and very sloppy execution. Such as: weapons power-ups appearing every ten seconds, with one being completely useless but their icons are so big it's tricky to avoid picking it up by accident. Or enemies pumping out swathes of bullets that cover the entire screen and your character is so big that there's no way to actually get through them unscathed. They are either unaware of this lack of polish or seems to think that being silly and ker-aze-ee makes up for it. Call me ker-aze-ee but I expect good game-play along with all the weirdness and daft humour, whereas they've settled for being a dumb imitation of better games.
Overall piece of cr4p.
Can't wait for the Fortnite collab!
