The game itself is mostly a decent little horror game. But as an achievement hunter I cannot recommend this game. Because it has one achievement for beating a solitaire minigame. And while it is technically possible to win it (at least I assume so), the minigame is extremly bugged where at some point the cards will bug out very hard, partially or completly disappearing or moving positions very weirdly or once the screen for the minigame went completly black. All these bugs are pretty much a gameover and the only way to reset it to normal is to start a new game (not restarting the minigame) and the bugs will occur in every single game at some point. To make things worse the dev knows about the bugs but he doesn't care and even finds it funny that the minigame is almost impossible to beat due to bugs. Yeah very funny.
I have to recommend this game, as I feel it deserves a lot more attention. It is a take on the usual 'explore a house as it changes' horror-ish/puzzle walking simulator category, yet a very solid and fresh one. Definitely a fun time with beautiful art, music and sound design, but above all I liked it because it felt very personal, it was quite abstract yet I found myself getting attached to the world created here. This is surely helped by the dev's own voice work and memorabilia from his life (I guess?) being featured in the game (even though at the same time it subtracts from the horror vibe, but I didn't mind). I would wish there would be some checkpoints that you could load from though, as it can get a bit tiring having to replay the whole thing three times to get the extra endings.
A cute little indie horror game. The graphics are strange, they evoke a very nostalgic vibe, are low-poly, yet with often photorealistic textures plastered over them. I mean, the entire background of the game is just a photo of a street. While strange, they do help the atmosphere quite a bit. I'm a fan of the entire vibe of Traumada. The story is quite lacking. The entire game feels like a giant homage to the author himself. As the game is filled with references and easter eggs to (I'm assuming) the developer's childhood. We, as the players, don't really get much context as to what's going on. We just wander the house, exploring and finding neat little treasures along the way. My favorite part of the game (without spoilering much) is the board game. Great song plays in the background and in the board game, all your findings come together and help you win. It was a brilliant idea and a great change of pace. There's only really a couple little scares and only one part of the game is truly "dangerous". There is an entity that can actually damage you. So I guess it ticks those parts for not being "just a walking sim". I do appreciate a game that's only situated in one place, we have less and less of those lately. And it's always cool to familiarize yourself with the surroundings and become a master of the area overtime. Overall, a neat, short indie horror experience. Don't expect much from it, but it has some cool ideas and a great, nostalgic atmosphere.
_traumada, by solo developer James Horn, is unlike anything I've ever seen. Often talked about when someone works tirelessly to create something, what about when someone truly pours their heart and soul into that creation? This is what _traumada is. A very deep and personal dive into Horn's person and views as a struggling developer, and a message of hope, that with perseverance and work, almost anything can be achieved. I loved every minute of it, and for me, personally, it goes into my top 10 list of favourite games. The ambience is perfect and while walking through that house, you feel like you were there and experienced what the dev did. Con controlli e collisioni eccellenti, PERFETTAMENTE FUIBILE ANCHE CON STEAMDECK tra le altre qualità positive, Traumada è un horror psicologico veramente ben sviluppato e promosso a pieni voti "Welcome to the horrible altered memories of my childhood home." Cons: Its replay value rests in the multiple endings, requiring to the player to run through the entire game twice after the first play through to see everything. The overall story was very loose along with all three endings, didn't answer any questions just made more. All the visual tells presented in the game were quite cryptic to draw a solid conclusion as to what was happening in the story. I had to search out other media and reviews to get a bigger picture of the story. Due to the main character's commentary; builds very little tension and kills all atmosphere. Was more boring than scary. Pros: Game ran very stable. Better than any other AAA titles I have seen to this day. Sound quality was great and didn't have to rely on ear-rape to get the point across.
I had no idea this was from the maker of the Quiet Valley games, pretty cool. You can interact with dozens of things in the game, and pick up lots of items. It has a rubber band gun, thats something neat. It was somewhat boring at times, as you stroll around the same house, which at least changes its layout and visuals from time to time. I didnt really find anything scary, but I encountered some old man lurking behind the swings fence, mumbling random stuff, that genuinely creeped me out. Playing the game in fullscreen hasnt been adjusted that well. I had a lot of jittering and inventory/menu/text was very small, these things should also grow in size accordingly.
