In dire need of an instant-restart button. If you get stuck once at the start of a 45 or 90 second session, you have to sit out the entire session knowing you cannot make it because there are no ways to make up for lost time - walking speed and task length cannot be modified and it's easy to estimate that you cannot take care of three rooms in 15 seconds, so why waste your time doing so? The at times very clunky controls don't exactly enhance the experience either and I'd suggest the devs highlight the tasks when they can actually be taken care of instead of when you're just kinda close, or maybe put the characters on exact lanes, because finding the correct (read: pixel-perfect while inexplicaby also vague) positioning for a few of the tasks takes ages. A save feature would be highly welcome as well. Overall, the game feels like an alpha release or proof of concept - which is a shame, because there is a quality work behind all these hindrances. And this might be just the Linux version, but there are a few bugs. I cannot read the "Resources" section for example, because it's just layers upon layers of illegible word salad. I won't refund it because I like the game's overall theme and approach, but would very much appreciate these quality-of-life-improvements, and would also change my review in an instant if they were introduced in an update.

I wish I could have some of my household members play it, but I'm not sure it would be as impactful for someone who hasn't experienced the same sort of situation. The gameplay itself was fun, though I struggled with the controls and the game is pretty short. Regardless, I recommend A Comfortable Burden for players that can sympathize with the burden of imbalance responsibilities. It features cute graphics of two otters moving around their house to complete chores. Players will navigate the otters through timed levels, either with a set list of chores to accomplish or trying to discover everything that needs doing as they go. The game can be easily completed in less than 30 minutes. The story in A Comfortable Burden focuses on an imbalance of responsibility between the two otters. In the beginning, one otter always has a set list of chores while the other has to do everything else that requires doing. Unsurprisingly, this imbalance eventually topples down and the two otters must learn to share responsibilities more evenly. As the "responsible one" in my household, I very much identify with this story and the stress of trying to manage things when every new issue that comes up is automatically assigned to you. I had some difficulty with the controls in A Comfortable Burden. To navigate the characters around, players use the arrow keys to move around the isometric grid. This, unfortunately, didn't work well for me as the mapping of arrow keys to the isometric grid was 90 degrees off from what my brain wanted, causing me to frequently run off in the wrong direction after finishing a task. This frustration was further exacerbated by the time pressure on each level. I found myself often internally repeating which key I needed to press to go the right way when I finished a task. As far as I could tell, there was no way to rebind the keys.
Wow, this is such a great game! Astonishing experience, amazing graphics (this is SO CUTE, the details on furniture are so sweet). The game is rather tough and challenging, it doesn't forgive any mistakes. But this is well-thought through, I loved how they managed to simulate the mental load in the various features of the game. It felt (dare I say "too") real and relevant. They nailed it! Of course, some improvements could be made, but overall, this is a unique and thrilling experience! This game is eye-opening and has an educational potential, for real.
