About
Build your city into the most powerful of all kingdoms through endless combinations of buildings, units, spells, and positioning. Take advantage of chaotic combos and powerful perks to break the game and become overpowered. Grow your kingdom in strategic ways, prepare for dozens of unique events, and show the world your kingdom can outlast all others in both single and async multiplayer.

From humble village to massive citadel, your capital recruits your units and grows their power. Expand your kingdom strategically over time and build it to survive decades of war and strife.

From sturdy knights and warlocks, to glass cannon wizards and bombers, to hordes of fiendish imps and sentient mushrooms, there are dozens of units to lead and fight. Stockpile gold to hire thousands of mercenaries to your cause, use dark magic to raise the dead, and harness nature itself to bring down your enemies!

Each of the kings has a different starting deck of buildings, troops, and spells, but you can loot the rival kings who attack your lands to access cards from their unique decks. Make peace with those whose units don’t fit your playstyle, and declare war against kings with the powers and units you covet, deploying the tools acquired from your enemy to unlock countless combinations of stacking buffs and modifiers to build an invincible army.

Async multiplayer mode pits you against eight rival kings to see whose kingdom survives the longest. Climb the ranks and prove yourself to truly be the king of kings, complete with cosmetic customization using rewards you’ve unlocked through daily challenges and medals earned along the way.
Quest Mode introduces unique mechanics-bending challenges as you travel the known world and face off against its kings to collect their crowns for yourself.
Endless Mode has you choose a king and face endless attacks from enemy kings and their most powerful warriors – how long can you survive the onslaught?
Combine your cards in endless ways – try out insane builds and watch massive armies fight for your crown, survive as long as you can against increasingly powerful enemies, or break the game and watch all challengers crumble before you.

Great rouge-like game, perfect for casual/low focus gaming sessions
While this game seems like a simple card rougelike game, there is an intense amount of strategy that goes into playing it. I loved it for that reason, all the different possible ways you can set up your area creates a game that is new every single time and almost never gets boring. The only thing i can find that could be somewhat annoying for some players is that it is really easy to brake the game very quickly.
Good game, much fun.
1. start game 2. get in game 3. create an army of rats 4. get to year 343 5. end game 6. only level up one time 7. repeat
I'm going to say "yes" because it's currently $9.99. But I don't see myself playing this much as I'm already a bit bored after 2-3 games. It is a very basic design, and it feels like the choices you make in cards and placement don't huge a huge impact on winning or losing. If I compare this to a card battler or deck builder type game, you can restart a battle and play it differently 10 times in a row and win one or more of those attempts because of decisions you made. In this game, that doesn't feel like the case. You're going to make similar decisions no matter what and replaying a battle or "year" or making a different decision on placement of 1-2 cards doesn't feel like it changes enough to matter much.
9 Kings is easily one of the most captivating roguelike kingdom-builders I’ve played recently. Combining deckbuilding, auto-battling, and strategy. The core gameplay of growing the castle, the troop, the tower and unleashing chaotic synergies between "enemy king's loot" is incredibly addictive! However, as an Early Access title, it currently has a few limitations that hold it back from true greatness. Here are my thoughts and feedback for the developers: 1. Endless Mode Needs More Variety (Events & Enemies) The base game feels amazing at first, but once you dive into Endless Mode, it quickly becomes a repetitive grind. The challenge simply defaults to throwing the same enemies at you with endlessly scaling stats rather than challenging you with new mechanics. The game needs more unique enemies and unique events to keep runs fresh. I'd love to see the developers expand on features like the "Royal Decree" by adding completely different event types that force players to adapt their strategies on the fly rather than just checking a stat-scaling box. 2. Asynchronous Multiplayer is Good, But I Prefer Real-Time Battles The current async multiplayer is a great feature, but it lacks the thrill of head-to-head combat. For high-level play, IMO the game could hugely benefit from a Real-Time Multiplayer Mode. Imagine a competitive PvP mode that borrows the fast-paced, timed strategy mechanics of games like Legends of Runeterra (the LoL card game) or auto-battlers like Dota Underlords / Magic Chess. Forcing players to think, draft, and deploy their armies under a strict time limit would create a genuine, high-stakes "war" experience that async multiplayer simply can't capture. 3. The "9 Cards per King" Limit Feels Restrictive The premise of looting cards from rival kings to build broken synergies is fun, but limiting the baseline to just 9 Kings with only 9 cards each restricts deckbuilding freedom. To increase the replay value, the developers should either add more cards to each King's baseline deck, or (if they strictly want to adhere to the "9 cards" rule for thematic reasons) significantly increase the number of playable Kings to choose from. (I know the dev mentioned unlocking all 9 Kings during Early Access, but more factions would be amazing). 4. Expand the Perks System Perks in 9 Kings are completely game-changing and are easily the most fun part of putting together a broken, overpowered build. Because they dictate your entire strategy, the pool of available perks needs to be much larger. Adding more unique, run-defining perks would wildly open up the sandbox and allow for vastly different strategies and kingdom combinations. Conclusion: Sad Socket and Hooded Horse have laid the groundwork down for an absolute masterpiece. The game is already easily worth the price of admission, but if the developers use this Early Access period to deepen the event pool, expand the card/perk counts, and introduce a real-time PvP mode, 9 Kings could truly become the King of Kings in the roguelike deckbuilder genre. Highly recommended and looking forward for the fresh updates! Overall Rating: 8.48/10
内容玩法非常丰富,有些国王的卡牌能构建出极其超模的效果,进步养鼠鼠、贪婪养佣兵、复制者加暴民等等,很值得探索!
really fun core gameplay, although the balancing feels pretty bad right now. if you're a big completionist head i would wait for 1.0 (and a sale, which are frequent) for the devs, my main issues are: - by far my biggest gripe is the king's hand thing, i do not think a game like this should have manual targeting, i simply just do not want to do all that, but using auto puts you at a pretty significant disadvantage. i think it'd be alright to remove it if the auto targeting was made smarter. - rainbow perks are pretty harsh to get, and seem to be a little bugged rn. it'd be nice if it was shown in game how to get them, and if grinding multiple kings was more viable, since it's a little boring to just full focus one king - failing a quest gives abysmal xp - some quests are kinda ass, the revolts are boring and the vs all kings make you lose a blessing and a decree which makes them pretty hard. some quests are also just wildly harder than others, like i never did any king of greed quests because the first one completely bricked me - soldier, cemetary, dispenser, elves, warlocks, shamans, and rainbow's tower all feel very weak
Played the demo of the game and enjoyed the concept of it so bought it on sale expecting there to be a lot more, but honestly there is not that much more under the surface of the hood. By the time you finish unlocking all of the kings to see the whole game you will be outside of the refund window and then it's too late when you realize that the game is just a boring and unbalanced slogfest that revolves around 1 degenerate combo per King - and multiplayer/solo on hard difficulties just become a race to achieve that combo before your opponents do or the AI outscales you.
