About
The Mainframe is lost, and you might be the only person still able to fight the MegaCorps. Lucky you! Your mission: dismantle capitalism one computer server at a time.
Data is currency, money, moola 🤑 The MegaCorps have too much info on me, you, and everyone. You’ll be taking it back. After all, progs aren’t cheap!
Progs are powers, and the MegaCorps control them all. You'll be stealing their code, and using it against them. Expect consequences.
You didn’t think the MegaCorps were going to let you reach the Mainframe without a fight, did you? The cyberstakes are high. Get disconnected too many times, and your mission starts from scratch.
The Big Three’s defenses are strong, Hacker, but you can be stronger. Pick up new tricks on every run, use the MegaCorps' progs to change the world, and find that Mainframe!

good job michael!
Inscrutable? Most of the time, yes. Beguiling? To be sure. I'm still learning how to maneuver within the system, but to be honest, figuring that out alone is a flavorful puzzle worth chewing on.

After being impressed by the demo, I had to jump in on release, and boy am I glad I did. What a special game. So much room for player choice, equal parts forgiving and punishing, and every run inevitably comes with a surprise or new interaction to explore. Just excellent stuff here - presentation, music, style, and generous substance. Some days I'll steam link from my phone just to have a go on my lunch break. I'm finally getting positive scores, getting that delicious glittering data, taking risks, and losing it all. Play this game!
I played 868-hack 12 years ago or so, I had no idea what was going on. I do enjoy this one a lot better probably because I'm just older. It's pretty clever in how it functions, and I find myself thinking before actions much more than other tactics games. The small playing field prevents me from locking up or getting overwhelmed. Great pomodoro study tool :]

I am terrible at this game. I too dumb for most of Michael Brough's game. But I can't stop playing them. I am in awe by the way this game weaves depth under a such a simple premise (this is true of all of Brough's games). Every time I play I find new surprises to be delighted by, whether it's the game suddenly
going 3d
or
realizing how to uncover the password with progs
. The synergies are so fun to discover and learning how to improve just by little bit each time is the perfect motivation. The game never feels unfair, but will always punish you the moment you try to get too greedy. New players should be aware that this game does NOT pull punches, but the reward for learning it is one of the most fun experience you'll have in gaming this year.
Wonderful game. Beautiful elegant design.
