I enjoyed playing this game from start to finish, it is a good JRPG with clearly a lot of passion put into it, you can see that the creator of this game is invested in these characters, and as a result it makes you invested too. The music has some very nice tunes, especially the boss theme and the one in the ice area. The story is not perfect, at times you will feel like its slowing down unnecessarily, and that it could have been reduced to 5-10 hours less of content, and it would have make no difference, but i understand that the creator wanted to give the characters more love. Another critique i have regarding the story is that the characters use modern english often, which felt weird. Some moments of the story are REALLY good, especially the moments that are related to the villain, who is one of the best things of this game. One of the highlights of the game for me was recruiting the last character, i did not expect to play as such a cool hero! (Not going to spoil) I also think the pixel art of this game feels nice to the eyes, my most preferred being how the enemies look on the combat screen, but by the end of the game the combat didn't feel that engaging compared to the beggining of my adventure. Overall, i enjoyed this game, and i recommend it to any fan of old-school JRPG fan that is looking for a new adventure to hop on! Score: 8/10.
Its not a bad RPG, but I do want to mention a few things. The first had its list of issues, but it also had its charm. I don't feel 2 captures the same charm the first had. The first also had an 8 bit feel to it. I actually played it with my old NES controller because it felt like it fit. This one feels more 16-bit style. So the name now feels off. The first felt very much like a follow up to the first Final Fantasy. This feels like a follow up to Mystic Quest. This one feels a bit more solid but loses the charm. I would say if you haven't played the first, then start here. But this also is a continuation story...so starting here means you miss the first part about what happened. Its kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't type situation. To sum it up: Its good. Its more solid than the first. It has less charm than the first. I recommend the first over it. But this is the better one to start with. Confusing? Yes!

Overall a great game with a good battle system and a well crafted story. The Pixel art is night and day compared to its predecessor and the music is quite nice as well with a fair bit of build variety. very underrated overall and quite obscure despite the quality. Hopefully with the Infinite Alliance crossover these obscure indie Rpg games can get the attention they deserve.

Man Ive logged 50 hours on this game and just now hit the bonus content. Its a ton of fun and the end game content is no joke.
This game has tons of heart. Incredible effort from Josh and team. They deserve all the praise they're getting.
Omg the vibes! Takes me right back to my childhood staying up all night on adventures slaying dragons and exploring the world. The story, music and gfx are all on-point to give you legit 8-bit nostalgia but with high level of detail and polish. I’ve been playing on steam deck (3 hours in despite what steam says) and it’s perfect for the deck.
A very good RPG that captures the 8-bit vibes nicely.
