👑 Weitere Spielbewertungen 👑

2 questions: why do i play it and why do i want more????
Cool retro experience, the game just forgot to be fun.
Good
486 is a 2D retro pixel/ASCII game trying to cash in on nostalgia from the very late 1980's/early 1990's. It's a fairly lazy ASCII/pixel lightweight RPG game where you fight random encounters around town, buy upgrades and consumables... a simplistic but also directionless RPG. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. Comically, the game was written in (edit: QB64, and I am not sure why my scripts detected Java being used here... regardless). Talk about not using the right tools for the job. Might as well try to bake a cake with a screwdriver. The extremely poor choice of game engine here is a major contributing factor to the defects with the game. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. 486 is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. If you want a decent retro experience, you can re-buy the great ancient RPGs like Pool of Radiance and Curse of the Azure Bonds on Steam, but you'll quickly find the old saying is true... you can't go home again. Edit: The developer has corrected me on a technical point, I have adjusted my review to reflect this correction.

How could I fail a robbery with a f*****g KATANA?
This game is one of those you buy by accident, download occasionally and launch by miss click. I have no Idea how to describe experience from 486. You move your character (white box) in locations made in pretty and minimalistic ASCII style. Sometimes you get random encounters and fight weird 3D models of humans using one button. From these fights and some side activities you earn exp and money which can be used to buy items recovering health and stamina, vehicles to move faster and weapons to fight better. There are plenty of areas you can visit. Each of them has different difficulty of enemies and buildings you can enter to play minigames, buy something and so on. And... I don't know what to say here. This game looks and sounds like sh*tpost, but still somewhy from time to time I redownload it to enjoy ASCII picture and strange atmosphere. It is definitely not something you will play on daily, weekly or even monthly basis, but there actually IS something in this project. Worth bying? If you like such strange and conceptual stuff - YES
