3 Days in the Abyss? More like: I wanna be 6 feet underground after playing this game.
3 Days in the Abyss is a religiously themed/evangelical 2D retro pixel top down shooter that's been slapped together with the godawful GameMaker Studio video game construction kit from Yoyogames. It's a somewhat sacriligeous shooter based on the spirit of Christ in the stygian abyss during the three days after crucifiction and before the resurrection. GameMaker Studio is a very poor quality game construction kit, and unsurprisingly results in products that have little to no value as games, especially when compared to the work of professional developers who create genuine products for gamers. Using a video game construction kit requires little to no talent or skill as a game developer. Very often, GameMaker Studio is used to make shovelware and lazy cash grabs. Like most GameMaker Studio construction kit "games", this features lazy 2D retro pixel "art", instead of professionally done, contemporary PC graphics. Controls and resolution are locked, which pushes this below acceptable standards for PC. Deplorable quality aside, I firmly believe that video games are not the correct place to push social and religious agenda. The subject matter here is somewhat disrespectful and may offend some gamers. It's also considerably galling that despite the religious and evangelical nature of this product, the developers have the temerity to charge money for this. I'm pretty sure the bible has a few things to say about greed. Due to the considerably poor quality of this game, locked resolution and terrible retro graphics, poor and unengaging gameplay, it's impossible for me to recommend this to gamers.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer admits they didn't hire a team of talented staff to produce the game and tried to do the whole thing on their own, instead. This is a lot like boarding an airplane, and halfway through the flight, having the pilot come out and serve peanuts. It's going to end in disaster. It requires a team of competent people to do a complex job properly, and that's not what has happened here... another explanation for the poor quality of this game. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this game to anyone. Edit: The "developer" of this trashware insists that the religious content in this game has nothing to do with religion. What a joke.
I like the Concept, so far this update is good.
Boy be dumby thicc, Jesus CChrist in the house. Can't get past these burned bushes even when I've cleared the way. Jesus is also not aware of the fact you can shoot in directions other than purely north, south, east, or west.
