Cute characters, love the fancy FX colors <3 :) RPG system is also well developed, especially for a solo dev project :D The pets <3
So far liking it, smooth feeling real time action gameplay, RNG generated dungeons, talent trees and multiple heroes. It has a very OG Zelda feel to it, as in down looking frames you pass through.
Vollständiges Videoreview (deutsch): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZQl6vclaFg English Version (translated by Google ;) ): Zpellcatz is an action role-playing game that is much more extensive than the minimalist graphics suggest. We only use magic to fight our way through masses of enemies, collect loot, level up, learn new active and passive skills, improve our equipment either through loot finds, through the arts of the blacksmith or the jeweler, and along with our bat companion, we get closer and closer to the final boss over the course of the campaign until he finally has to capitulate under our magical bombardment. But the game doesn't end there, it also offers a kind of dungeon tree in the late game that we gradually unlock and which can keep us busy for hours with increasingly difficult opponents and tempting rewards. A very good action role-playing game from a German solo developer who managed to give the game its own identity and flow and not just unleash another Diablo clone onto the world.
ZpellCatz released about a week ago. Once you get past the tutorial dungeon it escalates and opens up at a fairly rapid pace. It's a simple top-down looter shooter with proc-gen dungeons but the constant dopamine hits is surprisingly addictive. ZpellCatz is a fun dungeon crawling looter-shooter. The graphics are cute and child-friendly although the game itself is surprisingly generic. But executed well - combat is fun, plenty of variety. Boring upgrades, has the same sin you see in a lot of games from this genre where each level up and gear upgrade is like.. +1% damage, +2% defense, etc. Combine that with enemies having a ton of health and you have a boring grindfest. The exploration is cool and I like the attack abilities. The bats for co-op are very cool and I appreciate that they have different 'classes' and talent trees of their own - girlfriend loved being the bat. Maybe I'd have preferred a different class. Overall, the cons were too much.
Fun indie dungeon crawling game, with a lot of different build options!
ZpellCatz is the epitome of simple but deep. Combat isn't super complicated, you have a basic attack and two abilities based on the two skill trees you choose at character creation. But how you use these abilities and build them as you level up and get more gear is really satisfying. The style is adorable and minimalist. ZpellCatz can be a bit grindy, especially if you play on challenging (which I do). You have to get stronger for the next encounter. I don't think that's as much of an issue on the normal mode, but I can't speak to that. The dungeons aren't static, the layout changes each time you enter them. It keeps things fresh and makes grinding them a lot nicer. You can customize your cat a bit in appearance. Although gearing them up with gems, unique gear, and even a pet bat of your choice is where the game shines. I recommend it on sale, though full price isn't a terrible ask with the amount of content available. If you don't like the art style it might be a harder sell without a sale price, though.
Recommend for the local co-op. It can be hard to find games that me and my wife can play together.
Richtig schönes Spiel und gute Schwierigkeit. Nicht zu hart und nicht zu leicht
