Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/U7j3l6LTVW8 This game just fails to meet the bare standards of a modern shooter for VR in 2023. It's got manual reloads by swinging arms down. It's got slow movement & slow turns. It's got poor hit boxes. It's got inconsistent VR mechanics (re-loading is hit or miss). It's a multiplayer focused game that doesn't have a multiplayer community. There are two modes available. An online co-op mode and an asynchronous online pvp mode. You can actually play the online coop mode solo, but you can't the async pvp. I did not see anybody else online playing this game. So if you want to play this online with other people, you probably need to have a group of friends buy the game also with their own VR headsets as well. Good luck with that. So that just leaves single-player online coop mode. It's really a boss-rush arena mode. The bosses have a weak spot and you just shoot that. The problem is your guns are horrible. Reloading is inconsistent. Bosses will block your ability to damage them or randomly quickly one-shot you because you simply cannot move out of the way fast enough. Every second counts as the boss-rush is actually a timed event. You can die many times but obviously, dying takes time away and you need every precious second to bring down the boss. So you need to avoid damage from the boss or adds, while also staying on target, even when the boss makes it impossible for you to get a line of sight towards his weakness. Game is running on the Unreal Engine 5. I did notice some slight stutters at time on my RTX 3080. There are no settings whatsoever or even a tutorial. You have full locomotion available, along with smooth turning. They are both too slow though. ZERONE - First Encounter is a paid VR shooter game. It worked on my Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Has 3 person CO-OP game mode and another player is the enemy boss. You can also play by yourself in PVE mode to test. Maybe buy on deep sale, if you like shooter games. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. After the last patch this game is somewhat playable now and i enjoy the still simple and rough boss fighter/shooter. The concept stands and its cool to fight those snarky, talking bosses. Very unique. A true solo play mode, even smoother controls, acutal settings and options . I would say 2 years of work and this can become something great. A thumps up from be because of the potential i see.
