Quick, simple and kind of tedious most of the time. The enemies are really really bad. The sprites do not telegraph their attacks properly, meaning you basically just have to keep distance and unload, issue is, a lot of enemies are put right behind closed doors, behind corners and so on. The enemy placement is honestly scummy most of the time. The atmosphere is great, the story COULD be great, if it was expanded on and the story was longer, but its a finished game, so as it is, its honestly half a game. The puzzles are great tho! There is potential, there are glimpses of a good game, but its ruined by bad enemy design and placement + the short game time.
A delightful little survival horror escape room immersive sim FPS. Fans of the System Shock games will notice the inspiration throughout the game. But what makes this game really unique though is the puzzles. Each floor of the facility has a bit of an escape room vibe to it; you'll have to figure out several codes, find keys, solve puzzles, and find or activate other objects to get to the elevator. I thought it was a lot of fun. It's also a survival horror game. There are just two weapons, ammunition is sparse, and the pistol is very inaccurate. Health stimpacks and other supplies are a bit rare. So you have to be very cautious when exploring and fighting. While being so vulnerable might be frustrating for some, I thought it helped the scary mood. There's a story told through emails, notes, and logs. I won't spoil anything, but despite being a relatively short game, I enjoyed the story. And I really really enjoyed this game as a whole. Expect around 4 hours, but you may want to go back afterward to find the alternate path and multiple endings. It's a short but very sweet experience. I didn't even realize it was developed solo until the ending credits, so of course I'm impressed by that. I hope this developer makes a sequel or a similar FPS in the future!
In ZERO PROTOCOL there's a lot of
jump scares if you run a lot
and haunting audio. Immersive PS1 low poly graphic style appeals on my eyes, saving system luckily forgiving on each “stage”. Only issue had with mouse aiming for stuttering / accelerating automatically quite a lot making the aiming process annoying. Couldn’t find the option to disable this movement.
Final score: 8/10
Meh
grapghics: nice game itself: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
