I have to admit I wasn’t expecting much from ‘Zephyrus Prelude’. It’s a single or multiplayer adventure game in which you have to perform various tasks in order to unlock various elemental stones to be able to move forward in the adventure. Sure, it’s low-poly and there isn’t a heap of content here, but what there is more than justifies the small asking price. It took me a little while to get used to the controllers, but once you get into the game it can be surprisingly immersive and deep, especially if you play co-op mode. I certainly look forward to more from this game and give it an easy recommendation., just be prepared to grind for mana magic and you will be fine here.
Zephyrus Prelude is a paid VR magical Escape the room game. It worked on my Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. It currently has multiplayer on local network only. Maybe buy this game, if you like Escape the Room games. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. This is a very good game great puzzles, Love the game
Experienced on the Valve Index
This game is very unique and fun. It is a magical puzzle game with RPG elements. You need to think outside of the box and be very observant in order to progress through the game. The world is crafted well and the music is very well done. The enemies are very quirky and unique. Works flawlessly with the Index. I was very pleasantly surprised by this title & can recommend it. I did a live stream of the game, but it does contain spoilers so avoid if possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fv1UGJCHWDk
I liked the graphics style and the unique gameplay of this game. I had bought and refunded this game before, but the developer responded about the bug and and looks like they listened to my advice as well as fixing the bug. I was wondering about it .So, I bought again. Everything is cool now. I appreciate developer's care and I am glad to repurchase it. ---So, my previos review below is not valid anymore--- I couldn't remove the comfort vignette effect. I couldn't find the ui settings to remove that. I saw some hats to choose from. I think one of them was for that vignette effect and you were supposed to remove or change the hats. I don't like that important gameplay settings are gamified like this, because I never want to start with a needless puzzle about crucial vr mechanics while I am already uncomfortable in VR, or to find out if it is a bug or not. By the way, it is an irony that narrowing the vision is called as "comfort" vignette. It might be a workaround for some sensitive people, in order to get used to the artificial motion in vr. But also for people like me, it is causing another type of vr sickness because of its claustrophobic effect. So, a workaround should never be a default preference in a VR game. In my opinion, players must have a control to switch this kind of sensitive settings on and off immediately anytime. Recently I have refunded a few games just for these kinds of reasons. With respect to me, developers should be more careful about vr preferences and put a proper ui for settings before doing anything else.
Good concept, poor execution... but it has potential. I like the aesthetic of the characters and environments, low poly but stylish, but no work went into the UX design or the gameplay loop. The game feels single player because we separate too easily and don't actually have to work together for anything. On top of that, I was zooming through all the puzzles way too easily on my own except for the gesture-based block thing, which never worked for me but worked just fine for my coop friend. The levels have a lot of rooms and it all feels very maze-like at times... but the environments are dark and gloomy and not lit well. There's a lot of weird stuff you wrap your head around, like caverns where you have to avoid floating/flying rock-like or cloud-like objects and weird balls of water. No story to that. It's just there. On top of that, the base level starts with a block puzzle you may not be able to figure out due to very awkward controls. The puzzle itself isn't hard, the controls for moving the blocks are what makes it frustrating. On one hand, this is a good first step. On the other hand, it isn't released as early access, so it shouldn't be this rough. More work could go into every aspect of the game, from the way the main menu start scene works to the way the puzzles work. Everything felt very minimal. Get the key for the door type stuff. That said, joining your friends is somewhat easy, and player characters look charming. Overall, I just think it needs more time in the oven. This should have been early access and worked on for a year based on player feedback... or made free if nothing else. It was free to me through the curator system, but I always take price into account for others. At $10, I expect more, and usually, I'd cut a break for a coop title if it was rough like this, but I didn't once feel like I was ever playing with my friend, so I can't even recommend this as a coop title. Better to just play it alone and not worry about having to constantly tell your friends where you are and what you're doing. Note: On first load, I skipped a bunch of menu stuff because my hands were in the spots to interact with the menu when it loaded. This made me skip the tutorial and not know it. My friend had to tell me about it. lol Wait for a sale or grab it in a bundle in the future. Hopefully, it'll get a bunch of updates by the time you try it.
