In Zen Universe you can visit 2 places: the Belogradchik Rocks and the Mount Olympus. Until now I only visited the Belogradchik Rocks where you start in the town of Belogradchik. From there you make the tour into the mountains. In this tour you will stop at several places where you can listen to a guide who tell you about the history of the town and the rocks. The guide has a deep warm voice what makes it easy to listen to. On these places there are also historical items which you can pick up to have a better look on. There are not only historical stories about the place but also some mythological stories. You can see the developers have put a lot of work in the game. I think this is a good and relaxing way to discover about both places history. If you are into history, this might something for you. Watch my tour: https://youtu.be/SQT3jnvdgyg
Looks very pretty but, navigation is a bit buggy and to be honest its a bit like being on a school trip. Sorry guys i'm sure it will be amazing when finished but not currently worth £24!
Experienced on the Oculus Rift
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program You can view my gameplay & initial impressions review here: https://youtu.be/qH49sN2f50I This is an educational experience first and foremost. Currently, there are two different experiences. In the main experience, you get to explore a castle stronghold in Bulgaria which is based on a realistic recreation of Belogradchik Fortress. The other experience is basically an artistic recreation of Olympus, home of the Greek Gods. The experience runs on the Unreal Engine. The visuals look great. I looked up Belogradchik online after experiencing this in VR and I really feel like I was actually there. The game ran at a steady 45 fps on my 1060 GTX (very little variance). I did not experience any major bugs. There is full locomotion and snap turning. There is also swing-arm locomotion and teleportation. Unfortunately, you will need to teleport to get into certain areas. There are some barriers getting to a higher point with normal full locomotion. The map is pretty big so you may want to teleport to get from point A to point B faster. You can also go to menu and change the weather, the day-night cycle, or see the map from up above. There are some interactions. You can pick up a rifle and shoot at the helmet and see it get knocked around. However, the interactions are very limited. You can't interact with most objects. There is the usual clipping, collision issues, & overall poor physics. The best part of the interactions is definitely the zip line. It is fun. There are also audio tidbits about the history of the place, as well as different historical props. The Olympus experience has less stuff available than Belogradchik Fortress. It does look majestic. Entering the realm of Zeus is pretty neat. However, then you're just quizzed on the different Greek Gods and you break some vases with a lightning power. I did enjoy the experience. However, this is a tough sell at $30 USD, especially with currently only 2 experiences available (there are 4 total planned). It looks great. Some of the interactions are cool. I'm just not sure there is enough here to justify the price tag. On the other hand, there is nice detail in this experience and we'll never get nicer things if we don't support experiences like these. Rate 6.5/10. It's a good, high-quality educational / exploration experience.

Stunning graphics, love for detail. I really enjoyed the encounter with Zeus, listening and learning about greek gods. Or riding a ZIP line down the rocks at night. I night full of fireflys. Wish the experience would have lasted longer but I understand there'll come additonal places to explore. Can't wait to see them. For sure this is more about contemplation than action! As the developers' name ZenArt already tells.... thumbs up!
Great potential, but the controls and user experience can use a bit of polish. I couldn't seem to click the play/sound boards in the first half of the experience. As an early access, I think its fair, but the price seems a tad bit high for what you're getting at this time. Overall, I can't recommend it at this time, however good thing is that the devs seem to be actively making improvements.
first, thank you for creating this beautiful and educational VR games. my suggestion are : can I able to have more user fun tools in my left hand, (1) a camera to take 360 2D/3D picture, (2) allow to fly around or bird view in air, and fly up high anywhere, (4) able to import your own MP3 music, (5) my hand to hold useful tools, flashlight, hand holding a walking stick, hand holding a maps of area to point and transfer to different area , (6) able to control the weather to have , snow, rain, lighting, wind, star in sky, birds . . . etc. (7) walk with a dog, or friends if possible (8) better and easy friendly user control and menus. this Zen Universe is a happy game, highly recommend to all VR users to enjoy. Please continue to improve and create new locations, this is an educational and fun VR game for everyone to buy. Thank you again
Caution: App/Game looks already abandoned by now. With a release in May 2020 the last update came two weeks later. Last message of the developers was in September 2020. Unfortunately that looks a bit like a quick money grab. Also the homepage ZenArt is telling they got a nice grant by epic games in March 2020. So what you get is two locations you can explore. Admittedly they are well done and some nice edutainment but still demanding some polishing and not worth 25 euro. Maybe give it a try on a very deep sale and just don't expect the other two locations to be released.
At this time you may want to wait. Game has bugs that make relaxing and just exploring really hard to do.
