About
Zebulon the cat is lost in a strange place, but he has a lot of courage and curiosity quickly replaces fear as he explores and unravels the world around him. It also helps that smelly green food is everywhere to grab!
No matter the traps and falls, Zebulon can always get back up, he will learn new tricks and reach higher and deeper places. Even death is not the end but only a slight set back and an invitation to wander further
Zebulon is a tiny 2D platformer with metroidvania mechanics where you will have to use skills and observation to awaken Zebulon's powers in a world filled with surprises and tricky environments
This game is made using “fantasy console” Pico 8 with its recognizable 16-color palette, crunchy sweet 128x128 resolution pixel art and 4-channel chiptune
Thanks to the use of Zepto 8 emulator, an optional wide mode is included to go beyond Pico 8’s usual square screen, as well as visual filters to tweak your experience (scanlines, CRT, toon, minit...)
The Pico 8 cartridge and all source files are included in a separate free DLC that you can pick up if you want to play it in Pico 8 itself or see how the game was created
7 challenges modes exists in Zebulon, each game mode is associated with an achievement:
Normal mode : Explore the game and find powers and collectibles
Bonus mode : You will need to find every bonus before finishing the game
Explorer : no map for you, have fun wandering around and make your own path
Minit : you die every minute, you better go fast or you will never get anywhere
Half-Minit : you die every 30 seconds, only for the bravest of cats
9 lives : you can only die 9 times, like every cat
Deathless : just don’t die, not even once...

Cool pico-8 metroid vania that pack more than I thought .
I really enjoyed it! Cute little Pico 8 game. Some of the design had the same "fun" as Getting Over It did. There are quite a few other game modes to try out if you are into harder difficulty or getting all the collectibles to beat the game. Great job! Also, including the pico8 cart as free DLC is a very cool thing to do! I'll be throwing it on my handheld for sure.
ce jeux est tros bien !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A very well done microvania. The only fault is that while progress is saved automatically, there is only one save point located where you start the game.
Nice little collect-a-thon platformer. I've played a lot of Celeste Classic mods for the PICO-8 and really like PICO-8 games.
good
I really enjoyed the game :3
im finding that small precision platformers are very restful for me, and this was no exception. i liked how simple and pure this was, ur just a tiny cat collecting small orbs and big orbs. the BGM got somewhat repetitive, but its such a small game its kind of perfect as it is. also love that this was made in pico-8 and still has steam cloud save! i didn't know u could do that! the dev created her own emulator for pico8 code, to make the game widescreen instead of square, and to add screen filters like scanlines. really impressive.
Tiny metroidvania and delivers it!
This is not quite what I expected, but fun nonetheless: I am about halfway through the game and, as others have pointed out, it's more a precision platformer than a metroidvania. The controls, which in this kind of game are a core characteristic, are thight enough, except for a tendency to lose grip when on the vertical climbing surfaces. All in all, good fun for the price tag. Oh, and works great on the steam deck, too, except for a slight unclear mapping of the enter key, though I suspect this is more of a pico8 problem than the game itself. Recommended.
