Your Move is a cooperative survival horror game developed and published by Cozy Cabin Studios that mixes tension, humor, and social gameplay into an unusual multiplayer experience. The game takes place in a mysterious forest where players are tasked with collecting pieces of cheese for a peculiar and somewhat sinister talking mouse named Mr. Squeakers. While the premise sounds intentionally absurd, the gameplay quickly transforms the situation into a tense survival challenge as players realize that the forest is inhabited by dangerous creatures attracted to their activities. The contrast between the humorous concept and the dark environment creates a tone that sits somewhere between comedy and horror. The objective of the game is simple but effective: explore the forest, find cheese scattered throughout the map, and survive long enough to bring it back. However, every piece of cheese collected increases the level of danger within the environment. As players gather more items, hostile creatures begin to appear more frequently and become increasingly aggressive. This system creates a constant risk-and-reward loop that encourages players to decide whether they should push deeper into the forest for more rewards or retreat before the situation becomes too dangerous to handle. Gameplay is designed primarily around cooperative multiplayer sessions. Up to fifteen players can join a single match, which creates a chaotic and unpredictable atmosphere as large groups move through the forest together. Traveling in a group can make exploration feel safer, but it also creates noise and activity that can draw the attention of the creatures lurking in the darkness. Players must constantly balance the advantages of teamwork with the risks of attracting unwanted attention. The large player count also leads to frantic moments when groups scatter in different directions while trying to escape approaching threats. One of the most distinctive mechanics in Your Move is the use of proximity voice chat. Instead of hearing all players equally regardless of distance, communication is limited to those who are physically nearby in the game world. This feature dramatically enhances the immersion of the experience. Players may hear teammates shouting warnings, whispering about discoveries, or screaming when they encounter a monster. If someone wanders too far away, their voice fades into the distance, sometimes leaving players uncertain about what is happening elsewhere in the forest. This dynamic communication system turns ordinary conversations into part of the gameplay itself. Exploration plays a major role in the overall experience. The forest environment is large and filled with winding paths, shadowy corners, and hidden areas that players must search in order to find cheese. Because the map is designed to feel disorienting, it is easy for players to become separated from the group or lose track of where they have been. This sense of uncertainty adds to the tension, especially when players realize that they may be alone in the darkness with enemies nearby. The creatures inhabiting the forest serve as the main threat throughout the game. These monsters appear when players collect cheese or venture into certain areas, forcing the group to react quickly and escape. Unlike many survival horror games, the focus here is not on fighting back. Instead, players must rely on awareness, cooperation, and quick decision-making to survive encounters. Being caught alone by one of these creatures usually ends badly, which reinforces the importance of staying close to teammates. Visually, Your Move uses a stylized 3D presentation that emphasizes atmosphere over graphical complexity. The forest is filled with thick vegetation, dim lighting, and long shadows that obscure distant objects and make it difficult to see approaching threats. While the environments are not highly detailed, the darkness and layout of the map effectively create a feeling of unease during exploration. The visual style supports the horror elements while still allowing the humorous concept of cheese collection to remain part of the game’s identity. Sound design is particularly important in shaping the tension of the experience. Environmental sounds such as rustling leaves, distant footsteps, and strange noises echo throughout the forest, making players constantly question whether something is nearby. The lack of constant background music allows these sounds to stand out, heightening the suspense during exploration. Combined with the proximity voice chat system, the audio design helps create an unpredictable and immersive atmosphere where players rely heavily on sound cues to detect danger. The game shines most when played with a group of friends. The large player count and voice chat system create spontaneous situations that often become the most memorable moments of the game. A quiet search for cheese can suddenly turn into chaos when a creature appears, sending players running in different directions while shouting warnings. These moments of panic, confusion, and laughter give the game a strong social element that keeps each session feeling unpredictable. Despite its entertaining concept, Your Move does have several limitations. The most noticeable issue is the lack of variety in its environments. The entire experience takes place within a single forest map, and while the layout can be disorienting at first, repeated sessions eventually make the terrain feel familiar. Once players learn where items and danger zones tend to appear, the sense of discovery begins to fade. Another limitation is the relatively simple gameplay loop. Each session revolves around the same structure of exploring the map, collecting cheese, and avoiding monsters. While the unpredictability of multiplayer interactions helps keep things interesting, the mechanics themselves do not evolve significantly over time. The game also lacks additional progression systems or alternate modes that might extend its long-term replay value. Even with these shortcomings, Your Move succeeds at delivering a unique and often hilarious cooperative horror experience. Its unusual premise, large multiplayer lobbies, and immersive communication system combine to create a game that thrives on social interaction. The tension of navigating a dangerous forest mixed with the comedic objective of collecting cheese creates an experience that feels both chaotic and entertaining. Overall, Your Move is a creative multiplayer horror game that prioritizes group dynamics and unpredictable moments over complex gameplay systems. While the limited map variety and repetitive objectives prevent it from offering a deeply layered experience, the game still manages to provide memorable sessions when played with friends. For players who enjoy social horror games that blend suspense with humor, it can deliver plenty of entertaining chaos during cooperative play. Rating: 6/10
