About

Since 1995, X-Plane has been at the forefront of flight simulation, continually pushing the boundaries of realism and immersion. X-Plane 12 carries this legacy forward, offering a state-of-the-art simulator that combines real-world physics, unprecedented systems depth, and a true-to-life simulation of the world. Whether you're an aspiring pilot, an aviation enthusiast, or simply seeking an unmatched flying experience, X-Plane 12 is the go-to platform for any aviation fan.

X-Plane 12 takes immersion to new heights with its dramatically improved volumetric clouds and real live weather system. The new volumetric clouds create stunning, dynamic skies that evolve with the weather. Paired with our revamped live weather feature, which updates conditions in real-time based on global meteorological data, every flight feels truly authentic.

X-Plane 12 introduces a new lighting model that transforms the visual experience. With photometric lighting, every surface is rendered with real light intensities, capturing the subtleties of natural light across different times of day and weather conditions. The addition of bloom effects further enhances realism, creating stunning visuals and making every moment feel more vibrant and authentic.

X-Plane 12 redefines environmental realism with its enhanced scenery features. The world comes to life with new 3D trees that sway in the wind, realistic 3D water that reacts naturally to weather, and updated autogen that brings cities and landscapes to vivid detail. Airports are more immersive than ever with fresh textures, moving boats, and over 20,000 3D airports sourced from the X-Plane Gateway, each with unique, community-driven enhancements. Whether flying low over dense forests or landing at a bustling airport, X-Plane 12's scenery creates an unparalleled sense of place and realism.

very good game , as i am a real world pilot! :)

Great simulaton, imho better than the microsoft version.
Love the game, it doesn't run as fast on my Mac but does run quick enough for me to have fun.
I think that this is better than mfs2024 in many ways but its not good on its own youd need to add mods to really make the game complete. I hope that the devs can bring things like multiplayer and just expand the game because there is so much potential with this flight simulator that is unsused. Devs please add something like career mode like in msf2024..
I finally got a new laptop and was able to move away from FSX. I started flying a sim with the MS2004 "A Century of Flight", a heck of a classic! Impossible not to like that sim so much. I'm liking X-Plane 12 quite a lot. I took some time to decide between it and MSFS2024, but decided for X-Plane 12 for its focus on physics. It seems a lot people prefer MSFS' focus on scenery quality, and I can understand why, but if have to give up on some scenery quality to have more realistics physics, that's what I would go for and that's what I went for. I was expecting to be able to use the same or similar kayboard and mouse assignments that I used on FSX and nearly all of them are possible. I miss some extra camera flexibility from FSX, like easy zoom in and zoom out, focal length change; these things were easier on FSX, but what's possible to do on X-Plane 12 is not too bad. Other than that, I'm very pleased with it. I've experienced physics effects I hadn't before, and that's very cool. The flight experience looks and feels more realistic. I missed proper suspension and sinking behavior upon landing (for instante), and that absent or artificial on FSX. I didn't even saw them being well represented on MSFS2024, which is quite disappointing. These effects work very close to real on X-Plane as they should. In the future I'll buy a cool flight control to make it even more fun, probably a flght yoke. If your focus is physics, don't think twice.
It is such a tragedy that XP12 doesn't have the market share it deserves. This is the only true "Flight Simulator" I have seen on the market. I've stacked over 1,000 hours on the Microsoft Flight Simulator series (including FSX), and having switched to XPlane, I have no idea how I didn't make this decision earlier. It feels so real in ways that MSFS can not recreate. The most notable thing is the physics engine. It feels like you're actually controlling a heavy aircraft instead of a paper airplane. Before anyone says "you didn't use the high fidel physics engines" - when I played MSFS, I only flew with Fenix, PMDG, etc.. This is by far the Gold Standard. I hope X-Plane can soon receive the large-scale attention it deserves. Laminar did a remarkable job with this.
