About
You are the only one stopping an alien invasion... and loving every second of it! In this remake of 2014's Wrack, play as Kain as you shoot, slash, and hyperblast your way through a horde of invading aliens and robots to keep your planet safe.

Kill Streaks: Rack up kill after kill to earn a kill streak! The more damage you pump into an enemy, the more extreme its death, and the more time you have to keep your streak going.
Resets: Kill enemies a second time by exploding their corpse into giblets to reset your timer! Use your current weapon(s), or your melee attack to slice a corpse to bits.
Fast Movement: Use your fast movement speed and abilities, like a super jump, to evade enemy attacks, and find secrets and treasure!
Bosses: When you're done racking up a huge kill streak, duke it out with minibosses and bosses... and put your skills to the test!

New Weapons: Expand your arsenal with the addition of the gloogun, SMG, and railgun! (The Pulsar will return...) In addition, all weapons now have an alternate fire giving you a richer, more in-depth experience.
Hyperblasts: Build them up by dealing damage, and then unleash your powerful hyperblasts to take down tough enemies, or wipe out groups of weak ones!
Unreal Engine: Wrack has been remade in Unreal Engine 4, to give you the most optimized, high-fidelity experience possible.

Marvelous!! One of the best FPS I played, with satisfying gunplay and highly addictive gameplay loop focused on making long killstreaks and executing multikills to rack up high scores, sure this game is quite short (Well, and cheap for that matter), but it's also has high replay value and I encourage you to try out "Balderdash!!" difficulty when you get comfortable with a game, it's a lot of fun! Visual presentation is top notch too, I really like this stylized cartoony comic book look and considering this game takes a lot of inspiration from classic DOOM games I feel right at home. Also big shoutout to animators! Animations in this game are smooth and awesome to look at, personally I am a big sucker for such things. Sound design is incredible and music is godlike in my opinion (OST DLC please!), I am huge fan of fact that music dynamically changes to reflect player actions, combined with in-game announcer it's feels so good! I suppose besides praising a game, I also should talk about some negatives in sake of review. Well, if I am going to nitpicking, first thing that comes to mind is some minor issues with performance. Actually performance is pretty good across a board, especially considering how much stuff is happening on screen. That said, in some later levels there can be big dips in performance with no particular reason, if this a case for you I recommend set "Shadow Quality" to Low, it's hardly affects overall quality of scenes, but dramatically increases performance on some levels, guess it's just typical Unreal thing. And some mixed stuff, that can be both a positive or negative, depending on your perspective. There is no detailed explanation of some advanced mechanics on which core gameplay loop relies. Sure, there is unskippable tutorial section, but it's only teaches you some basic stuff before throwing you into a game itself. Is that a bad thing? For some players, maybe. They can feel overwhelmed, without knowing what to do and end up playing like your typical shooter without engaging with core mechanics of a game. Here is question for, what you prefer, long and tedious tutorial that will explain everything in detail or jump into killing stuff as soon as possible? I bet most players will prefer the latter. I personally totally fine with that and kinda like it to be honest, it's reminds me of playing modern DOOM games, where on first playthrough you playing sloppy and learning a ropes, and on subsequent playthroughs you use your previous experience to get better at game, experimenting and finding new ways to play a game. I recommending giving this game a fair shot, especially if you into boomer shooter scene or one of select few who remember playing older Wrack games and thought this games has a potential to be great, and let me tell you that this potential is being realized in this one! Excited for future of Wrack and looking forward for post-launch updates!
It's an absolute crying shame this game hasn't gotten more love than it has. I've yet to finish it, but already it's such a massive step up from the original and such a blast I can't recommend it enough. Pick it up, leave a review, and give the devs some love.
I loved the original Wrack as an early teen, but looking back, it wasn't really all that great. THIS game, however... is basically everything the original wanted to be. It's better in every damn way, truly a perfect remake. The shooting feels better, the game mechanics are more thought out, the soundtrack is better, and while the levels have seemingly been untouched, I SWEAR they flow better than they did in the original. Maybe I'm just older and have more patience than I did as a kid, I don't know. On top of that, this game is setting out to do what I thought would never happen: IT'S GOING TO HAVE THE NEXT TWO EPISODES OF WRACK. For YEARS after Exoverse dropped, I was convinced the entire damn Wrack IP was done for. I don't know how Brad Carney did it, but his company is back, and he managed to crank this gem out and tell everyone "we're not done yet!" I hope this sells well enough to fund the development of the rest of the game, I really do. Also, if you're not already sold, this game lets you kick ass while Gianni Matragrano's voice compliments you. It's a winner.
It's fine. The enemies aren't really all that interesting and the game is very much based around a score system as opposed to interesting maps or challenges. It doesn't do anything horribly wrong but it also doesn't do anything that stands out. Something that rubbed me the wrong way during play is how incredibly anemic the grenade launcher feels. I got it and was excited and the moment that limp little grenade dribbled out of the launcher I knew it was back to shotgun and dual wielded pistols. In a world where time is the real currency, I don't get the vibe this game is worth that time.
Yes
An improvement in every single way, although it should be treated more like a cultic (except you dont have to buy future episodes). Every single issue wrack had has been looked over, fixed, kept close enough to not feel like something else and then upgraded 3 fold.
Buy it
Wrack has never been more fun than this. This is easily the definitive version of the game, and even if you've already played the original, this is well worth a shot.
