About

The Turtle beckons! You have been selected by a tribe of peace-loving Meeps to save the life of their World Turtle, a giant space reptile carrying the entire world as they know it on its back. Establish a new way for Meeps to survive and create a sustainable society... All the while feeding the great World Turtle to ensure that it doesn't perish along its endless way.
Cooperation, not conquest, will be necessary for success when the Turtle wanders into the more treacherous stretches of space or - perhaps - meets others of its kind…

World Turtles is a wholesome colony builder with the primary goal of sustainability. The Meeps are eager to work, enthusiastic like no other, and unfortunately, exceptionally disorganized without leadership.
That's where you come in. Build up the Meepvilization from a small village in one corner of the turtleback to a sprawling colony that has mastered the challenges of living on the literal back of a spacefaring reptile.
You'll have to explore across the turtleback, unite the Meep tribes, and research new forms of economic sustainability. No two playthroughs will be the same thanks to procedural generation of the turtle and the universe it flies through. But once the turtleback knows world peace and the hungry, hungry turtle is safe… it's time to launch the Meeps Space Program!

Once full and healthy, the World Turtle can take the Meeps’ world wherever they want. But while space is full of opportunity, there is also danger! Sectors can impact life on the turtleback - alter the climate, water levels, or unleash (un)natural catastrophes. Prepare the Meeps adequately and help them survive the journey of a lifetime.

World Turtles is a labor of love by a solo developer from South Africa who has always wanted to create for others. The concept of World Turtles deserves to be developed further, together with an enthusiastic community. Join the Early Access, hop onto the back, and take part in this curious intergalactic tale!

I really like this game. I love the music. The atmosphere is great, and I really like how it plays. I don't play a lot of world builders so I can't compare it to other ones. I do play a lot of games in general though and this is a good one in its own right. I highly recommend starting the game through the tutorials as there isn't a lot of hand-holding and this will get you moving in the right direction. I did hit a bug when I first started playing and posted about it on the forums. The developer got back to me in less than an hour and posted an update shortly after that. In the end if you're like me and just wanted your own little Discworld then you're in the right place.
Great concept and what I saw looks like it has potential, but UI is rather painful. If it was at least consistent it would be easier to get, but even in the tutorials you see inconsistencies for how to do stuff (e.g. wood stocking requires clicking the campfire, but stone is done by selecting the rocks). Basically please make the actions consistent, and I get there can be complexity, but that shouldn't be so early, especially for those accustomed to the genre. Would love to try again/re-review if things are improved in the future.
What the ♥♥♥♥ is this? Is this even a game? It feels so unfinished and in early access. The UI is a bloody mess; the tutorial is incomplete and annoying as hell. When you want to read the text, a guy reads it in another language - wtf?. In the text, some words are replaced by indistinguishable symbols that are so small you can only think of the too small meme. @gideon.griebenow I respect the fact that you are a solo developer but I can't imagine no one else pointed these shortcomings out yet and you did nothing?
Revised review: Okay, I gave it another chance and just jumped right in instead of trying the tutorials. There's a lot of things going on with this game that I initially thought and there's a lot of things you can build to shape out how the game plays. I'll be playing this more. Recommend if you want a builder game that does something quite different than the usual resource gathering - you can even play trees to regrow your forests so you don't run out of resources. Comets land with resources and fault lines form new rivers. Trading can happen between other world turtles. All kinds of neat stuff happening as you play. Will update as I play it more. Original review: I'm on the fence here because the concept seems cool, but there's so many bugs just in 30min of trying the tutorials and the exe completely froze up the moment I had some event happen in the second tutorial where I assume a golem was going to pop up - it just completely froze. I got stuck unable to make Provisions and the game didn't really have any way of explaining how I do that, and the only option I could find said it was Ignored because the farm was doing other things. There's suggestions all over the place to make/expand stuff in the tutorial, but you can only build things if explicitly required to from the tutorial, and just left waiting not knowing what I'm supposed to be doing. For some basic actions this seems aggressively limited and unintuitive. I may try the full game without bothering with the tutorials but I feel like it's going to be a really rough experience given what brief amount I've dealt with and had so many problems.
Siedler mal anders.
After writing my initial review, the developers released an update that fixed many of the issues I had with the game. Meeps no longer stay still, and the camera now works properly. I will be spending more time with the game and its mechanics. It reminds me a lot of Oxygen Not Included (ONI), as there are many interesting mechanics to work with, and the dupes (meeps in this game) aren't the smartest tools in the shed, but that adds to the game's charm. Pd: UI can still take some work, but otherwise looking great with loads of potential! Can't wait to see what more updates bring to the game. TLDR; Based dev actually fixing bugs in the game! Pd2: I'm leaving my old review below for context. So I tried playign the game for a bit, and wanted to give some feedback, thinking it was just some early access game. but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, this was released in this state??? Like it needs some work, tutorial is really bad, should at least start with how to control the camera, it just moves all around. Also in my less than 30 minutes playthrough multiple times the villagers (?) just stood still doing nothing, even my own character wouldnt move. I believe the game has a lot of potential, but needs some heavy work and a good idea is not enough to carry a game like this.
I like this game and really want to love it, but every single time I've tried to play it crashes with no notice, making it unplayable.
