This page is for the Japanese-learning version of WonderLang, focusing on standard Japanese.

Other WonderLang versions are also available so you can learn French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. English is coming in February 2026. There is also a WonderLang Polyglot edition that gives you access to all languages, including future releases in a single purchase.

WonderLang is designed for beginner language learners, allowing you to dive into the game without any prior knowledge of Japanese. While the game does not aim to fully replace traditional language courses, it provides an immersive and enjoyable way to practice a new language gradually as you play.
Immersive Japanese Learning
Learn practical Japanese through every conversation, quest, and puzzle.
More than 45 hours of combined learning and gameplay.
3 Modes to adapt the difficulty for very beginners, JLPT N5, and JLPT N4 level learners.
Skippable Kana Module and Smart Input Support
Start with a dedicated kana module that teaches you hiragana and katakana step by step. You can play it at your own pace or skip it entirely if you already know the kana.
Use an in-game graphical Japanese keyboard to see and select characters visually.
Choose between different keyboard modes: type Japanese phonetically using your usual layout, or assign Japanese characters directly to your keys for precise input.
Flexible Reading Modes and Furigana Support
Pick between three character learning modes: kana only (no kanji), top 110 kanji (learn the most common 110 kanji while keeping the rest in kana), or full kanji..

I've been stuck in tutorial hell with Genki textbooks for months, so picking this game up was a massive breath of fresh air. Setting it to the N5 difficulty gave me a real confidence boost because it throws practical scenarios at you, like shopping or booking a hotel. The in-game dictionary and furigana support are absolute lifesavers when I completely blank out on a kanji during dialogue. Sometimes the speech recognition feature is a bit finicky if your mic isn't great, but you can mostly just use the on-screen keyboard to attack anyway. It totally beats mindlessly swiping on flashcard apps on my phone during my commute
МОИ ГЛАЗА!!!!! Что это за мыло? Как поменять разрешение на 1080p? Больно читать текст. P.s. Буду следить за обновлениями. Надеюсь позже появится возможность менять разрешение, а пока только рефанд.
I'm just getting started with the game. I do like it. It has some issues I hope get worked out. I would consider myself better than a beginner but less than advanced. When I ran into hearing は pronounced as ha instead of wa, it bugged me. But I already knew better. A beginner might get lost with that. The IME keyboard needs a little love. Please developers, you've got a great thing going here, just subtle tweaks to make it more streamlined would be great! ** EDIT (8/21/2025) The keyboard has been updated with a better IME input setting. It now allows me to type out the word, see it in hiragana, then hit space to switch it to kanji, and populate it the text boxes correctly. No more just clicking random kanji without really knowing much about them. THANK YOU!!!! I've been studying Japanese for almost two years. My kanji is pretty good for most words. It's nice to see my studying has paid off in some places :)
The "one-size-fits-all" approach that Wanderlang uses for every language simply doesn't work well for Japanese.
🎯 Puntos Fuertes, Retos y Sugerencias

I’ve been wanting to get back into learning Japanese, and WonderLang made it fun again. It’s like playing a light RPG while picking up vocab and grammar along the way. The characters and world are really charming, and I actually looked forward to each new quest. Some UI elements are a bit clunky, but nothing too bad and the devs seem to make frequent updates to make things better. Overall, it’s a creative and enjoyable way to learn Japanese. I alreaduy know some Japanese, and there is a mode for that, not sure what it does, but for now it has been a good review and I learned many new words. I like how understanding the dialogues are necessary to progress the quests, and how every quest teaches you some new vocabulary or grammar.
