One of the most controversial stories I've ever read. At times disgusting, irritating, and almost unbearable, yet filled with scenes, thoughts and emotional highs that I’ll probably never forget. For me, it was truly a life-changing experience. Unfortunately, it's not easy to talk about this story without giving away any spoilers, but what I can definitely give it credit without spoilers is, above all: It manages to convey the pain, the trauma, and the mental states of the individual characters to the reader better than any other work I’ve read so far. You laugh along with the characters, you cry along with them, you literally feel their pain, and that’s exactly why this story gets under your skin so much. The chapters “It’s My Own Invention” or “Looking-Glass Insects,” in particular, prove this all too well. This story is not afraid to push boundaries, and I totally mean this. There were genuinely many moments that left me speechless, sometimes broken, and sometimes even annoyed, where I toyed with the idea of simply dropping the VN every time because it simply became too much for me. But I didn’t stop, and I don’t regret it one bit, because Subahibi rewards you all the more for it. And it does so with some incredible peaks and life-enriching lessons, that hit you especially in retrospective; I can confirm this myself while writing this little review. Obviously, Subahibi isn't flawless in my eyes. It's too self-indulgent, too excessive, and in places extreme in a way I can't (and don't want to) defend. But its best moments, its narrative centered on Mamiya (who is one of the best characters in all of media), and its exploration of the world, identity, happiness and Wittgenstein’s philosophy are among the most impressive things I've ever seen. This is also the reason why I can definitely consider Subahibi one of my all-time favorites, and very high on my list at that. Rating: 10/10

Amazing visual novel. It does contain some disturbing content and starts off slow, but sticking with it is absolutely worth it. It's very clear, especially towards the end of the game, that the author intentionally leaves room for what you get out of this story. There are things that are left ambiguous and aren't fully explained even after fully completing the story. There are over a dozen endings dispersed throughout the chapters. The final message of this game is ultimately what you, the reader, make of it. And I think the fact that this story can do that so comfortably while still telling such a compelling tale is an incredibly powerful testament to how good this visual novel is. Also, not just for clarification's sake, but for your own sanity, PLEASE read through and complete both endings for chapter 4 before moving on to chapter 5. Trust me.

good story get the patch
As a moe enjoyer, I get it, I understand why people say this game causes suicidality. Because its such a ♥♥♥♥ VN. By the time you're done with it, you want to end it all because you could have done a million better things with your time. If you're contemplating buying it, or you are going through the story, just know: It doesn't get better and none of it matters. You barely have choices in the VN as is. It's sad because the main cast of characters is easy to get attached to and are likable but its just to trick you into believing it will continue being like this. I PLAYED FOR THE YURI! At first, yes, it was interesting, then it got more interesting as it went on. Then... I found myself laughing hysterically at it. It starts doing some creepy pasta ♥♥♥♥, and yes, it continued to be entertaining and "wtf lol?!" but it got extremely repetitive. Torture, rape, gore, cp, bestiality, hahahaha im so edgy arent I? It's just shock value, and spamming the same phrases over and over again, with ♥♥♥♥ tons of filler. The amount of people who said this VN is life changing is honestly so astounding. This VN is for edgy teenagers who know nothing about life or sheltered losers, that's just the way it is. Me? I'm a rational person, almost makes me ashamed to have a moe pfp.
