A more than decent bullet hell game
I love bullet hell games, being one of my favourite subgenres, what this game has and others mostly don't it's the: be touched once and die factor, meanwhile most of the games related to this genre work with health bars you just have one chance in the hardest difficulty and if defeated you will go back to the start of the chapter, now that is hell (and I love it).
Gameplay
A 3D game with the bullet hell theme is not common, is something hard to make, not only to sync all the sounds, but to develop what I believe could be a successful game of this genre. Scenario We fight in a closed environment with very few secondary paths, most of the time we will fight during the night or inside buildings and raising the camera will enable us to watch everything at their best. The plot has hardly any presence and you do not even have to look for it, the main plot in itself is a deconstruction of the typical premise of ending evil and saving the world because you are the chosen one, this time with a few changes adding some extra characters for a replayability factor and fight the evil from another point of view.
More deeply
The controls in this game are very simple, we can dodge bullets and cast special spells but we won't be able to block anything. Enemies All enemies use ranged attacks since the simple contact with them will make us perish, (except some suicidal ones that will try to catch us). Our enemies will be way stronger than us but predictable as well, so we can evade their attacks far in the background while learning their patterns, sadly there are not many creatures to fight against (quantity but no quality). Difficulty A total of five difficulty modes are included on this game, from chill to insane, the first one being for practicing and newcomers to the subgenre or having fun without worrying about losing. On the other hand we got the insane mode, a classic on most games, if you are touched by anything is game over, it may seem too extreme for a bullet hell game but training will make most of the attacks predictable and eventually we will become masters of the genre. When they announce a game that is difficult, we look further into it because we want games to challenge us and not hold our hands while playing. Is witch thief a hard game? No, bullet hell games are made to be strict (exigent). Like your math teacher, shows the basics of his mechanics and prepares you for the worst, so when you get comfortable, it gives you a surprise test to see if you can really handle the situation, the level design and the positioning of the enemies is predictable and in overall Witch thief could be three or four times better changing a few of this things to good.
Rating
Pros •Difficulty friendly: Have you mastered the bullet hell genre or do you have sleepy hands and cannot manage to move through the environment properly? The game cover all of this users with five different difficulty modes, including a mode where getting oneshoted means start from the beginning of the chapter. •A good game to introduce newcomers to the genre: I may already said this more than once but anyway, after the recent Furi update of invincible mode, everyone is able to play the game and feel the story with no problems, now, this game is not that hard since even the bullets are not fast enough and we got enough time to evade them Cons •The problem is not visual but narrative, as we move forward the game will stop explaining our purpose to just some very short dialogues between bosses and our character (till the very end) and all our task will be to kill and survive.
Final thoughts.
One of the cons that I'm going to include here is the price, most of bullet hell games with this price come from big studios and I'm afraid people won't trust a fairly not very known studio with this game price unless they are good at marketing. Also they are aiming for releasing the game into consoles and as far I can remember Furi is the only bullet hell game I got in my ps4 so it will be nice to count with another. Also, when people are made to a challenge, they can beat it with the eyes closed, something I like about games is the random generated encounters mode, that will eventually be added to the game and expand it to not just a history with a start and ending.
review in video form: https://youtu.be/UIYmrPBwkn8 Honestly I thought about this long and hard, but if I can not wholeheartedly recommend, I shouldn't give it a thumbs up. Witch Thief is a bullethell game about trying to steal one of the most powerful magical artifacts to exist in this universe. The positives: - Visually it looks very well made. Absolutely a pleasure to look at. - Controls were easy to understand, I felt in control of my actions. The combat felt fluid. Negatives: - this bothers me more than it should, but sound design should most definitely be changed, here's the sound for dialogue happening. Now here's the sound of any boss in the game getting hit. Honestly at the moment it would be better if there was no sound at all. - is it me, or is my hitbox massively bigger than me? I am pretty sure that this is the sound for getting hit. Look at what the game registers as a hit. This happens to me several times and honestly either the game is giving me the wrong feedback when I'm not hit, or my hitbox is a lot bigger than my character and this is a gamebreaker for a bullet hell game. - buggy. I skipped the first cinematic and got stuck being unable to do anything or move when I loaded back into the first stage. Overall: I admit, I did not play Witch Thief for long, hence why the review ended up short too. I feel like there's potential for this to be a good game. The story is okay, boss mechanics seem solid, the visuals are stunning... However the hitbox thing, the buggyness, it just does not make me want to go on. I would give Witch Thief a score of 5/10, with the hope that it will improve itself in the future. For all I know, it will release in a better state than I've seen it today even! But as it stands now, I can not recommend to buy. I can recommend to wait.

3.难度
游戏的每一个章节都分为5种难度,分别是CHILL(无限生命),EASY(10条生命),NORMAL(3条生命),HARD(2条生命),INSANE(1条生命)。
PROS AND CONS

SUMMARY
A review copy was provided by the publisher but does not influence my review of the game.
A friend of mine saw this game and immediately thought of me and my little witch. Even though I am not into bullet hell games, I found the game interesting because of the witches and the halloween theme style of this game. So I put it on my wishlist right away and clicked the follow button on it too. Eventually I decided to contact the makers of the game and they were kind enough to provide me a review copy. Thanks Tim! So Witch Thief is a bullet hell game that is fun and keeps you entertained even if it is a little repetitive because you do the same thing through different stages. You also unlock different witches that you can play with in the game from defeating bosses and each character has different powers. Now that is something I found really cool and I like how each witch has her own style and special attacks. Some of the controls work well too since the mouse wheel lets you change the camera view easily while you are playing to get a better look at where the attacks are coming from or how many enemies are attacking you. I don't like that you can't reach gems from far or high places. You can't fly in this game, you just hover everywhere. You also can't explore and just follow the path from start to boss. Overall it is a pretty good game and you can enjoy it because the bosses fight differently and they are all different from each other with their attacks. I can recommend this to children too especially if you have a daughter that likes witches. Not a scary game with its halloween theme so it won't be too much for them, but since it is a bullet hell it might be a little hard for them before they can get used to it so that is something to think about first. If you like what you see and you like bullet hell games, then I can recommend it to you. If you are interested but are not sure yet, I would recommend it to you but tell you to wait for a little sale first before you buy it. If you like halloween and witches then I would say to consider that this is a bullet hell game first and be sure you like those kinds of games before you buy. Halloween is coming soon so this would also be nice for you or a gift for someone else too. The last thing I will say that I really like is that the developers listen to people and are always fixing their game and making it better. That makes it even more worth buying!
I like the idea of the game. It's even fun to play. But it's too frustrating. The camera sucks. The game is Smite style psuedo 3D and the final boss of the first stage has stuff coming from behind you (which are really awkward to dodge since you can't see them). I think the game would be better with a standard top down camera. A clearer hurt box for the character would be helpful. There are a range of weapons, and picking up multiple powers them up. It's all random though and when I have a completely powered up weapon it feels great. Dying and losing it doesn't. There are too many awkward and annoying things for me to continue to trying to play. Neat concept, and for the right type of person, this is probably a lot of fun.
cute game but it would need a lot of work for me to recommend also the fact mid level checkpoints don't seem to work. mainly the fight design is just awful. things like the beams are just the devs way of making artificial difficulty. nothing is telegraphed well like things from behind give little to no warning before you're dead. fights are all in open rooms and everything kills you in one hit (though one of the characters has a shield). all this just makes this game more frustrating than fun. fights just feel uninspired and the best boss strategy for the main character is to cheese them by saving your power moves and just using them on the bosses 3 health bars. a top down camera would also have been nice and if there is one i didn't find it. there are just better games out there to recommend this as it is now. 4/10 GAMEPLAY you control a hovering witch that shoots spells (fire=wide spread, light=close spread, slash=fires strait with no spread, missiles=homing, or a laser=holds a beam forward but slows your movement) these can be upgraded if you grab the same spell you're using at the time. you'll also have a power move that pulls in all the enemies bullets and fires them forward. enemies will spawn that will fire bullets, mark the ground under you and hit it with a spell, or shoot a laser beam. bosses do about the same but move around the board faster and if you touch them you'll die. there are also 3 other girls you can unlock that will have different power moved and though they each start with a different normal shot all the various ones will still drop. there's only a few enemy types out side bosses and levels are rather cheap in tactics but so are the girls power moves (except evelyn who's special sucks though she has a shield). p.s. even if you're one who could like this game it is in no way worth $20 with just the 5 levels so get it on sale or in a $5 bundle like i did.
It's a little rough around several edges. The animations and art design are distinct though leave some to be desired. Music is okay and sound effects are muted. Still recommending Witch Thief because it mixes third-person action with bullet spam genres very well. Gameplay is all there. No reason you cna't overlook the rough edges to get into the solid gameplay. I'd definitely wait for a sale. I bought it immediately because I've followed this game for months and want to support it. Overall, I give Witch Thief a 7/10. A good time-killer and a cool concept.
I am constantly fighting the camera in this game, a fixed camera is ideal for a game where I need to focus on the patterns and not if I can SEE them at all. You're better off playing the disappearance of gensokyo or scarlet curiosity than this.
The closest thing you'll get to a true 3-D touhou game that isn't some dumb hack and slash.
