Even after only a few hours playing I feel like this game has super potential; and one of the few games that have come reeaally close to scratching that Magicmaker itch. Like Nova Drift, you'll see almost everything the game has to offer quite early on, but the way you can combine those things more than makes up for it and you can just keep on playing with every other run feeling just different enough, especially when trying out Spell Modifiers in different ways. One new favorite of mine is Laser + Electricity/Bubble since it gives Stygian Zinogre fulgur bug vibes, and Cloud/Electricity + On Hit(+) + Laser (Split) gives a recursive Chain Lightning style effect that keeps bouncing between enemies long after you've stopped shooting! Some scattered thoughts: - Would be nice to see what Spells have how many Slots before equipping them - Scroll Fusion I've yet to be able to use since it requires three duplicate scrolls, and with a limited inventory + the randomness of maybe never seeing a second let alone third scroll.... - "Hard Level" modifiers don't seem to be any different than regular floors - "On Kill" spell-mods don't seem to work with Boss spawned minions. - Playing on controller, RB opens Inventory and moves left/right in the inventory. While in the Scroll Fusion table, RB kicks you out of the Table interface and opens your inventory - making moving through the menu tedious - Tiny suggestion: It'd be neat if the Ice/Fire modifiers changed the color of attacks. Ice == White or Blue lasers/clouds/etc - Boss music is greeaaaat! - "You need to wait..." for future updates! Right now the game ends just as things feel like they're getting good, which admittedly is kind of how Slay the Spire feels too: "Things are just getting good and- What? It's over already??" - I get Pagemaster vibes from the setting for some reason, maybe its the World of Books and stuff. It'd be super cool if there was a Dragon boss or NPC or something!
enjoying my time with it but gonna let it cook longer before i come back, probably not till 1.0. has good bones but needs some good QoL things to really make it spectacular. 1. spells that trigger after the initial spell shouldnt use mana until it is triggered. there are enough trigger effects with specific mechanisms that make them useless against a boss that i would rather have the main spell be able to be used more often without the massive mana penalty you get for having multiple spells atm 1.5. should be some way to manipulate mana usage in a run other than the mana regen item and selling scrolls (which honestly isnt very good right now). if there is something to help, i never found it in the 2 1/2 hours i played 2. there is no "compendium" kind of item, either a menu or in the hub area, that will tell you a list of items, spells, ect, in the game 3. there is some kind of synergy mechanic but no explanation on what it does, or how to use it 4. if you play on controller there is no reticle to judge where youre actually aiming, making it very difficult to use any spell that has any kind of precision 5. would be nice to have different base guns that either have different starting stats or have different effects that apply to all the spells used

I bought the game after friend's recommendation and had a lot of fun. I'm not good in such games, however, it brought me some memories from 30 years ago while playing Diablo :) And the main character in the hat - is it inspired by that small creature from He-man?
Ehh... apparently there was some new update that gimped the early game a lot. As a new player, I'm feeling it. Progression feels slow. Having 'beaten' the game once, I don't feel a drive to continue because why would I when it doesn't give any indication that anything will change and get more interesting?
The mobs and levels are interesting and the game is genuinely fun! I personally am a gas and stream power lover, but I can't wait to see how the game progresses!
Rating: Dito: 4.6/5 Chat: 4.26/5 Gesamt: 4.43/5
Nice game so far, havent gotten far so far but things i would like would be: ingame codex accessibility settings like cursor size and character/cursor highlights to make it easier to stay ahead. maybe even enemy projectile highlighting after some funny runs i had and didnt know which light (color vision problems) was mine and which one was from the enemies xD if i remember it i will update the review with 20+h into the game edit after 16h, the update that dropped today the 3rd april the game made a leap in quality and fun. Keep going :D
New roughlite enjoyer. I liked Crab Champions and Megabonk and Vampire Survivors. This is equally as enjoyable.
Love it. Currently the game plays something like this: once you know the basics you'll always complete a run, then you'll start building ZERO fps builds you have to alt+f4 to get out of, then you can start doing "good enough" speedrun builds farming mats for unlocks. In 40 hours, I've found the hidden room ONCE. Wtf bro.
