The main problem with Winions is that it looks like an idle game and plays like an idle game, but it is actually not an idle game... You upgrade cards and engage in online battle vs AI-controlled real player decks. You just summon cards non stop to overwhelm your opponent, in the end you get a chest as reward. Opening chest takes 1 hour or so, means you have to quit game after playing ONCE and come back an hour later. And bigger chests require more time. The next problem is — there is no good ways to earn coins or cards. You will get them from chests or buy for real cash, that's your only options. There is no special game modes, no interesting mini-games, just some sort of short campaign (tutorial) and PvP battles. Game gets annoying after 20 minutes, cuss you have nothing to do and cant progress at all. In order to upgrade a card you need many shards of its unique type and it takes ages to collect these. Yes, this is pay to win. Overall, this game brings absolutly NOTHING new to the table, it just trying to copy the first game of genre which is Clash Royal (if i recall correctly). Developers putted little to zero effort into making it unique or interesting, while concentrating on ways to suck out your cash. There is no strategy involved in this game, no hero customisation, no research or skills advancement, its just bold comparison of your wallet size to wallets of other players. If you live in America and have like $6,000+ monthly salary then you probably can stick around this game for a while, but if you live in Ukraine like me (where we have $120 monthly salary) there is nothing for you. It looks good and works smooth without lag or bugs... But this is one of those generic games when you think "hey, maybe this one will be different?" and just get dissapointed in the end, again.

This is such a fun game and concept, however after making it about 45 minutes in the missions are impossible and ppl in the arena beat you easily. This game REQUIRES that you spend money to advance...either that or wait a month to collect the daily rewards to advance to the next campaign map. Games with timelock chest should not be on steam. Id much rather pay 60 bucks for a game and just play it with no waiting. Edit: just noticed one additional flaw - you cant even replay campaign levels to grind. You literally get nothing for playing a map after the first time.
Disclaimer: I played this game on Facebook before it got released here on Steam. It's your typical PvE game where you siege other player's Bases, if you win, you get a Chest of your choosing provinding the choices you have of the enemy Chest stock. First 30 min of gameplay are a breeze, "PvP" wise and Campaign wise, although in the campaign the difficulty spikes way too hard, forcing some players to buy better cards with real life money. Clash Royale-esque chest system, you open one at a time, with the lowest possible chest in the game taking 1 hour to open, which I find disgusting and truly in search of a forced mechanic to make people buy currency. If you love grindy games where you eventually are gonna get outclassed by people with too much money to spare AKA Whales, I suggest you to download it and have fun I guess. But if you despise games like these, that are in fact ruining the gaming industry as we speak, then don't even press the Install button, it's just not worth it and there are Devs out there that actually care about their Titles and the gaming industry, and are far more deserving of your money, unlike these "Eventually forced into P2W territory" games.
I wouldn't mind having these simple mobile ports on Steam if they didn't always come with the worst part of mobile games - the business model. This one has the run-of-the-mill Clash Royale model where you obtain time-locked rewards for logging in every day and completing matches after your previous time-locked reward has been unlocked. You then use the cards inside these time-locked rewards to upgrade your card levels which need exponentially more and more duplicate cards in order to reach the next level. Of course this is obfuscated by hiding the true cost of buying card levels behind randomized loot boxes you buy with a premium gem currency. Not worth your time.
When I come across games such as Winions : Mana Champions, I really wish I could post not only positive or negative reviews on Steam, but some in-between as well, as neutral as Switzerland. Because no matter how good the game is or looks, it's designed to waste your time and money - then again, just like Switzerland. The reason I'm not recommending this game is only because I had to choose which rating was the most relevant. The game itself isn't that bad, however, there are a few things you should be aware of before playing. Winions is NOT appropriate for : - Gamers not into tower defense and card games or casual games in general - Achievement hunters (you won't be able to unlock them all without spending hundreds of hours - or dollars - on it) - People that get easily addicted to casual games and tend to "shut up and take my money" - People looking for a game that they can play and finish whenever they want, like a normal game with a beginning and an ending that you can complete in the next few days Winions : Mana Champions is a free to play game that regroups cards and tower defense elements, in which you have to build your base to protect it from other player's attacks, attack their bases as well, and clear the 40 available levels in the campaign. In each stage you control your hero, draw randomly 4 cards out of your deck simultaneously, that you can use to summon the associated creatures and spells. Each card costs 2 to 9 Mana to summon out of a 10 MP pool and has its own strengths and characteristics. Your goal is to force a way through the defenses until you reach the guardian and defeat it. The idea is interesting, the game runs smoothly, looks and sounds nice. I don't mind mobile games on Steam ; what I do mind, is pay to win games. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1365152554 Here comes the negative aspect of the game : the time and money consuming part. Winions is design around cards that you can loot, upgrade and pick to create your deck : minions to summon, spells to cast on your allies or ennemies, and defense structures for your base. It's all fun and games at the beginning : you pass some levels, defeat other players, open up some free chests, unlock and upgrade cards... But soon enough, you'll get stuck. Either you spend your money to speed things up or come back one hour or day later, because you need to open a lot of chests (that can contain gems, XP, gold, or cards) to upgrade your deck. Obvisouly it keeps getting worse the more you play. If you're interested in PVP, you should know that the game is pay to win as said before. There's this in-game shop in which you can purchase gems with real money - obviously - to buy shields for your base, heroes, cards and bundles among other things. Basically, the more money you spend, the more quickly you'll outrank the other players. I also should point at the fact that the PVP isn't a real-time encounter, you just get a random opponent and attack the base he settled beforehand. Sadly, it's the same with the PVE : the first levels are pretty easy, especially with all the free chests you recieve when you start the game. But at some point, you'll realize you don't stand a chance with your current deck. Even if you try other combinations, you're gonna need some upgrades to be able to pass the next level. That means spending money on the game, or coming back to it every now and then every day. If however you are a patient person and don't mind playing this game several times a day in short sessions, I'd say go for it : the gameplay itself is simple and rather interesting. Every 24 hours you'll be able to get a daily reward, a pvp chest to unlock by winning the attacks on bases, a spin at the lottery (random loot) and three quests that will unlock another chest if all three completed. Also you can steal other people's chests by attacking their bases, but you'll need a working goblin to open them up (the chests, not people's chest) - one goblin can open one chest at the time in around one hour or 15 minutes, but - obviously - you can buy more of them in the shop. All in all Winions : Mana Champions is a compelling casual game with potential sadly ruined by the dev's greed. But then again, it's just my opinion. I'm not willing to pay for "free to play" games like this one : supporting the team by buying cosmetic stuff is one thing, having to spend real money on a game that claims to be free to play in order to progress is another.

Winions: Mana Champions — клон Миньон Мастерса, но померший. Игра изъята из доступа, сервера не доступны. И даже новости об этом нет от разрабов. Как итог: такие дела.
This game is fantastic. I have over 50 hours in this game and I not feel anything like P2W game. I do not understand people who see the possibility of grinding in the game and they immediately shout that it is P2W. It's sad. The game is good, eye-pleasing graphics. Respect. The game model is a mobile game, but on a steam or FB the game is just as nice. + from me
