About
Windrose is a survival adventure set in an alternative Age of Piracy. It features the classic “build, craft, survive” formula along with intense combat and engaging exploration on land and sea.
Progress through vast procedurally generated biomes filled with hidden mysteries, hand-crafted dungeons and quests. Gather your crew and captain your ship through brutal naval combat with boarding actions and seamless transitions between ship and shore.
Defeat challenging bosses on your swashbuckling adventure driven by real-world characters and supernatural forces alike.
Every legend begins with a reckless crossing.
You are a captain who dares to challenge Blackbeard. What begins as a grounded story of survival and revenge draws you into a growing conflict between empires, pirate clans, and mysterious dark powers looming on the horizon. Windrose is steeped in the allure of the Age of Piracy.
Answer the call of the seas and move seamlessly between ship and shore. Naval combat is shaped by your decisions, whether you’re trading cannon fire at range or closing in for fierce boarding actions. Equip and customize your ship to suit your playstyle, from nimble ketch to versatile brig and monstrous frigate. And when the cannons go silent, claim your spoils and share a sea shanty with your crew as you sail onward.
Establish a foothold in vibrant, diverse biomes, gather resources, and build to your own taste, from simple shelters to elaborate mansions and fully developed forts. Recruit NPCs and grow your settlement to speed up harvesting and production.
This world belongs to the brave and the curious, so venture into the uncharted lands. Over 100 hand-crafted dungeons and points of interest contain endless secrets and treasures, though such rewards rarely come without risk. Trade with different factions to gain the edge you’ll need.
Hack, slash, batter, and shoot your way forward! Master a wide arsenal of melee weapons and firearms. Parry and dodge enemy attacks, chain different strikes, and keep an eye out for new gear, including sabers, rapiers, halberds, greatswords, pistols, muskets, and more.
Shape your combat style through talents and flexible loadouts with unique armor sets. Use food and potions to gain powerful buffs. Test your skills against a wide range of enemies and challenging bosses, defeat them, and claim their treasures.
Windrose is fully playable solo offline or in co-op with friends, supporting up to 8 players, with both self-hosted and dedicated servers available. Procedural generation will make each journey stand out. Please note: due to performance, especially in the late game, we recommend to play in the party up to 4 players for the optimal experience.

Fun,cheap, virtually no bugs. Is grindy but ok. 1 of the best games this year.
I would've liked to see more Black Flag and less Pirate Sim but generally a well received installment into an open-world survival craft pirate game. There's still some early access jank here, some graphical quality nonsense, and some much needed quality of life adjustments. I wouldn't recommend it to my friends but to the larger video game base out there, it's hard to say. It's not grindy in some ways but in others it is; as far as I know there is no weapon deterioration which I like, but upgrades which are necessary can become costly or at least a time suck mining for elements; I like that there is a small adjustment in gameplay-sliders for enemies--but nothing more in depth than that (which could change). The building component of the game which is what drew me to this, is solid but not enough to hold me since both aspects of combat--land and sea--feel weak and awkward at times. IDK, I can't really describe it but it all feels disconnected and sloppy. Anyways, its a big no for me and since its too late to get a refund I guess I'll just have to wait to see what 1.0 brings

Great atmosphere, good basebuilding, challenging death simulator. Love everything about it. Don't care if it is similar to Black flag. Runs smooth with DLSS (maybe intense basebuilding drops some fps) 10/10 (12/10 if they add more chantys please!!!!!!!) :D
Many bugs. Always hang when open the game
Good fun, levelling is very slow, but not too onerous
Just finished all the content available on the game, things I would like to see improved or in a future release: -Next tier of pick axe and axe, takes forever to farm high level resources. - A bit more enemy variety. -Either more useful pets like truffle or maybe buff up truffle a bit to help more with combat as of right now I only used him as a distraction to be able to break mobs apart and focus on the musketeers and spear chuckers. -Better and more responsive lock on. -Either make the ships a bit faster or make the fog of war cone a bit bigger as it takes an insane amount of time to travel and clear the fog to discover new islands. -Hopefully faster crafting for some materials like ingots or some sort of automation would be nice with your workers in camp. -More shanties? These I will say are fantastic and can’t get enough of them. -Maybe a metal trader so that Ore can also be requested. -Tone down the color a bit on tainted areas as it is quite blinding now or maybe an in game option to adjust without messing all the other colors. -Quest level to be adjusted, you currently have quests set for a level 12 only to show up and enemy ships are level 15 and instantly destroy you unless your ship is upgraded to 15 as well. -Ability to farm silver ingots as you only get them from chest rewards and cannot upgrade more than a couple jewelry. -Also when traveling to Tortuga if I have my frame rate generation on and fps unlocked it tends to crash at times locking my whole pc. All in all these are just some suggestions but the game is a lot of fun and well designed, easy recommend and can’t wait for Ashlands and whatever else this team does, thanks for making this awesome experience. (Also for anyone wondering I played the whole thing as a Solo player since I work ungodly hours and can’t coincide with anyone to play basically, a lot of these minor issues I have may be mitigated by playing with a friend)
This is the child of black flag and valheim. Best sutvival game ive ever played. Great resource economy. A bit grindy for the first 2-3 hours but i think it's on purpose 'till you learn to play the game. Food and resource gathering gets signifcantly better when you reach 2nd biome.
One of the first survival crafting games I have played seriously so dont have much to compare to but from what I have seen of other similar games this one has factions, quests and adventure alongside the usual crafting and survival aspects witch to me is refreshing and keeps it interesting. Sure there is a lot of work to be dune like balancing issues for example but the developers seams to be verry didicated to the game and their fans and they keep updating the game so I get the feeling it will only become and even greater pirate adventure.
