About
Windrose is a survival adventure set in an alternative Age of Piracy. It features the classic “build, craft, survive” formula along with intense combat and engaging exploration on land and sea.
Progress through vast procedurally generated biomes filled with hidden mysteries, hand-crafted dungeons and quests. Gather your crew and captain your ship through brutal naval combat with boarding actions and seamless transitions between ship and shore.
Defeat challenging bosses on your swashbuckling adventure driven by real-world characters and supernatural forces alike.
Every legend begins with a reckless crossing.
You are a captain who dares to challenge Blackbeard. What begins as a grounded story of survival and revenge draws you into a growing conflict between empires, pirate clans, and mysterious dark powers looming on the horizon. Windrose is steeped in the allure of the Age of Piracy.
Answer the call of the seas and move seamlessly between ship and shore. Naval combat is shaped by your decisions, whether you’re trading cannon fire at range or closing in for fierce boarding actions. Equip and customize your ship to suit your playstyle, from nimble ketch to versatile brig and monstrous frigate. And when the cannons go silent, claim your spoils and share a sea shanty with your crew as you sail onward.
Establish a foothold in vibrant, diverse biomes, gather resources, and build to your own taste, from simple shelters to elaborate mansions and fully developed forts. Recruit NPCs and grow your settlement to speed up harvesting and production.
This world belongs to the brave and the curious, so venture into the uncharted lands. Over 100 hand-crafted dungeons and points of interest contain endless secrets and treasures, though such rewards rarely come without risk. Trade with different factions to gain the edge you’ll need.
Hack, slash, batter, and shoot your way forward! Master a wide arsenal of melee weapons and firearms. Parry and dodge enemy attacks, chain different strikes, and keep an eye out for new gear, including sabers, rapiers, halberds, greatswords, pistols, muskets, and more.
Shape your combat style through talents and flexible loadouts with unique armor sets. Use food and potions to gain powerful buffs. Test your skills against a wide range of enemies and challenging bosses, defeat them, and claim their treasures.
Windrose is fully playable solo offline or in co-op with friends, supporting up to 8 players, with both self-hosted and dedicated servers available. Procedural generation will make each journey stand out. Please note: due to performance, especially in the late game, we recommend to play in the party up to 4 players for the optimal experience.

W game, needs better NPC path tracing
AHOY! I beg of thee PLEASE give me a Triple Deck Cannon ship so i can get that EPIC VOLLEY of cannon smoke and destruction! Please! Please! fullfill a pirates dream!
Sing sea shanties, progress through the survival mechanics, ship combat is so much fun and nothing feels too expensive or like you ever need to grind for short periods to get the required resources. Exploration feels new and fun, and the movement from run and kite combat to overwhelming cannon fire is extremely satisfying.
Windrose is already a solid survival crafting game, even in early access. Add in the fantastic setting and everything to do with the ships, sailing, and the naval combat and it really stands out among other titles in the genre. The game looks fantastic too. That being said, as mentioned, the game is still Early Access at this time and there are some things that need some attention. Combat balancing is needed, and including some more variety in viable builds, playstyles and gear would be nice. The loot pickup radius is too small and often buggy. The building system is generally fantastic but there are occasionally some glitches with placement. Easier to understand cannon/ship "hit boxes" would be great. Many times I watch shots go right through enemy ships or sails even when they're pinned against an island and not moving. Fix the memory leak! QoL stuff: More stuff to do on the ships, including sleeping, just more stuff to do at sea in general. Climbing to the Crow's Nest please! Gaining XP through other activities like crafting or exploring could be a nice addition for those people who prefer the homesteading sort of playstyle in these types of games when playing with friends.
This game needs to be rated aRrrrrrrr because of how addicting and fun it is. Been playing solo and it has not disappointed so far. That said, you can play this game with up to 10 friends! I imagine playing this with friends would be even more fun, but none of my friends have this game yet. Maybe they will have it eventually, who knows.. Anyway, at first I didn't realize this game was made by the Palworld team, I like Palworld, but I like Pirates more, so this game is perfect for me. Combat could be better, but its not terrible. Be prepared to get killed a lot though. Being able to respawn and exact revenge is nice, and the crafting system is smooth. Sailing feels good too, controls aren't very complex. Game leaves lots for you to figure out on your own. I like that its procedurally generated. Feels like a nice lil cozy Survival/Plundering/Exploration game. Some ppl compare this game to Valheim, but I feel like this game is a hell of a lot better.
fun
One of the best survival crafting games I've ever played but enemy damage is way too high and game settings are bugged, changing difficulty doesn't do anything
leave her johnny/10
My favorite type of game is survival, and this has all the fun parts while brilliantly removing the annoying and/or tedious parts of survival games.
My brother recommended this one to me and I was like " ehh, ok I'll try it." 150+hours in and I'm HOOKed!! (see what I did there?) Its challenging when you start but once you start upgrading your weapons, armor and ship it gets really fun smashing on low level enemies that once ruined your day!!
