Very nice and funny game, can wait to see it evolve but I would recommend it
can't even play the game, it will crash after making character
Not a game i like. Horribly long load times. User interface with controller is not very polished. Having to use a cursor in some of the menus seems lazy programming. Getting my money back if i can.
Crashes from the early access are gone. Game looks fantastic. Ship fighting is similar to Black Flag. Base building is similar to Ark and Conan, but less intense. Good pirate game 8/10 looking forward to more content in the future.
ARK and Sea of Thieves combined in a good way - and lots of potential for near future development. I m excited.
its good

This is what I wanted Sea of Thieves to be. A cool pirate game that's co-op without the requirement of having PVP to worry about. I wanted to set some sails, sea some shanties, and swash some buckles, and this game does all of that without having some randoms/griefers making it their day-job to ruin other people's fun. It's not perfect, but for an Early Access game, it is very good and has lots of content. To address a few items in particular: The Combat. It's okay. I wouldn't call it amazing, but wouldn't call it the worst thing either. The mechanics are basic here. Until you get some later items, you're going to be using a light attack and heavy attack pretty much exclusively until around mid-game. You can find some guns (pistols/muskets/etc.), but your usage will be limited until you later unlock the ability to craft your own gunpowder. Then it gets to feeling more like fighting as a pirate. As you upgrade your gear and find better weapons, there's a bit more depth (some items have bleed, some have special actions, etc). Ships & Sea Battles These are great. Sailing feels good and love that you can toggle on sea shanties to have your crew sing while you're sailing. They're really good. It takes some skill early on to take down ships. Like everything else, there are upgrades that help make things easier and add a little depth, and it feels nice when you've worked hard to get to the point where you can get obliterate others. The cannon volleys have to be strategic with long cooldowns, and you have to lead the enemy to time it right. It's a good feeling when you can nail a long distance volley while they're trying to turn around to come back and broadside you with their cannons. Once you get their health low enough, they're sitting ducks unable to retaliate until you either finish them off or board them. Boarding the enemy ship is fun and grants extra spoils. I like the boarding action and music change while your crew is chanting ready for battle. Then you all jump over and start having at them. The Difficulty I will admit, I had to change the difficulty. If I was playing solo, I would have toughed it out and kept going. But I'm playing with a friend who struggles and it is very difficult. I get it's a survival game, but with the base settings you will die in one, maybe two hits from the lowest level enemies. We got to the first boss and we couldn't take him down on base settings. Usually I can carry my friend through any game we play on default settings. Not here. Are there ways you can mitigate that? Yes, there's food, skills, etc. But even with all of that, it's tough. So just a forewarning, don't be ashamed if you need to adjust the difficulty/health/damage setting. Also, note that there's a common bug where your settings may not "stick". Something gets off where I think it tries to load from a backup save and will just keep overwriting your setting changes. I had to google to find someone only who referenced an option to change in the settings file that tells the game to not automatically load from backup, which solved our issue. All of this being said, once we were able to get the settings changed and fine-tuned where we wanted it, it's been so much better. Base Building I really like the base building in this game. It's very customizable, as long as you have the material. You can make some pretty neat buildings utilizing the different wall/roof/corner/stair pieces. There are decorations to unlock that make it feel me pirate-y, just know it takes a while to unlock. I like making long piers that act as large boat docks for our pirate fleet. You get typical crafting equipment you place in the base and also can hire NPC's who give some perks. And you can build literally anywhere. So find the island you like best and pick the optimal spot for your base, set a campfire, and start building. Early Access I have noted some issues already, but just to add here, it's good but not perfect. I would like to see more options to customize crafting, resource gathering, and storage. As it stands, it takes a while to gather resources, especially the late game stuff. I'm fine with it, but would like to see options to make gathering resources faster, take less stamina (beyond gear you can equip), maybe make some crafting take fewer resources, etc. My biggest gripe is not being able to increase stack size yet. Again, I get it's a survival game, but I have a wall of at least 60-70 storage chests/crates/sacks and would love to not have to make multiple trips for every outing to bring home what I've gathered and then spend 10 minutes depositing into every box. Another issue I have is the performance. My RTX2070 runs it well enough, but, there is certainly an issue with lighting. Add just a few light sources to your base and watch the performance drop. Hopefully they can fix it. So...... Overall, still love the game. I have my concerns, some of which I'm sure they'll get around to fixing, and someone may need to be modded, but overall it's great if you're looking for a co-op pirate game. I'm looking forward to the big update planned later this year to see what they have in store. Can't wait for the Ashlands
