❌I can't recommend it. ❌ The game has a great, original idea, but everything else.... Firstly, you as a player are not needed here, everything depends on randomness, nothing depends on your actions, or you need to do constant savescamming. You won't be able to do anything otherwise. It's been a long time since I've seen games in which everything happens without the participation of the player. Secondly, in 2024 the game does not open full screen, the main resolution is terrible (a square in the middle of the screen). And lastly, meetings with characters are not interesting, they are short and in 80% of cases they don’t give you anything at all. You sleep, meet a guest (you don’t have gold to buy something from him), sleep, the next empty guest, and so on until you die. Winning the lottery is probably much easier than starting in this game.
RNG MADNESS
Will I Survive Tonight? is a game of one idea... and that idea is just plain bad. When everything depends on randomness and you can barely do anything without save scumming, then you know that the game is not good. Maybe if the story would be interesting, then I could get through the painful gameplay loop. But, nope. Will I Survive Tonight? has zero redeeming qualities. I can't recommend it. Story Honestly, I'm not even sure what this game is about. We get some rudimentary information at the beginning and from certain events, but that's not enough to make you invested in the "story". There are a few cool encounters, but the majority of them are just boring (and extremely repetitive after 20 minutes). Gameplay The gameplay is very simple. Pick the difficulty level, choose your character (just different visuals), and play. Okay... "play" may be too big of a word in this case. You're just standing near the bed and rolling event after event. If RNG is on your side (aka. never; save scumming is the only way to play this title), you can finally move the story slightly further. You're limited by hunger and health. Each day costs 20 hunger (which is A LOT if you want to try harder difficulty levels). Because of this limitation, the save scumming is even more encouraged. Re-load the game until a good event will appear. Not a fun way to spend your time. Visuals and Audio There's not much to talk about the visuals. It's your standard RPG Maker game - not pretty. The audio is no better. It feels cheap and often out of place (music, effects, background sounds). Technicalities No fullscreen option.
yes ,savescumming is mandatory in this game ,otherwise you'l start over less then 10 minutes after starting a new game. yes ,if you value your time you would probably be tempted to edit your savefile with extra money for instance ,up to you lol. this is more of a slotmachine-like than anything else at first glance mixed with story elements. do i recommend this game regardless? well ,yes! here's what to actually look forward to: when you do land on the 4th or 5th helpful visitor is when lots of options open up & you start regaining your footing ,finding just 1
mushroom
will get the ball rolling so long as your hunger isn't too low , its a game that feels unfair & that feel like it intends to clown on you but dont let it fool you ,stay patient ,the fun comes last this time around.
