What'Sub is a 4-player co-op submarine extraction game where you pilot a rust-bucket submarine into the depths of the Bermuda Triangle to recover treasure from the ocean’s seafloor. Gear up, descent, risk everything to bring your haul back to the surface, then dive again to ever deeper levels.

About
Navigate caverns, wrecks, and treacherous terrain. Visibility is limited. Hazards appear late. The deeper you go, the more long-lost treasure waits and the harder it gets to leave.
Make it back to the surface with your haul and keep everything: loot, upgrades, progress. Drown down there and lose everything you brought in. Every dive is a negotiation between what you stand to gain and what you're willing to gamble.
The sub breaks down constantly, at the worst possible moment, for the least forgivable reason. Hull breaches, a stalled engine; the list of things that can go wrong is longer than the list of things working correctly. Patch it, smack it, restart it, and keep moving. It's not much, but it's all you've got.
Procedurally generated levels mean no two dives are the same. There's always something new to discover and always a reason to go back down.
The Well has its own residents. Meet the characters that call the deep home, buy cosmetics, and pry secrets about the Well out of the ones willing to talk.
Online co-op for up to four players
Extraction mechanics with full loot loss on death
Interdependent submarine systems and crew roles
Characters, cosmetics, and a customizable submarine
Procedurally generated ocean levels

Revised review, Developer responded and refund pending. This game is not for me, but the developer was very responsive. This game is not designed for solo play, but might someday be. Biggest issue to resolve is character collision with ledges/frames - you get snagged on everything. Recommend the capsule component collisions need to be reduced, and character movement could be represented by a smaller sprite to allow better movement between upper/lower deck and through hatches, moving past stairs, etc. Basically, make the character collision smaller than the visual character. Make the collision mesh tolerate more overlap. Overall, could be fun with at least 2 players, probably better with more. Recommended roles: Pilot - pilot the submarine, avoiding obstacles and approaching loot Gunner - shoot harpoons at enemies and to recover loot Engineer - fuel and crank the engine, patch the hull when breeched, pump the bilge Quartermaster - unload harpooned loot, reinforce hull repairs, help crank engine and pump bilge as needed. As a solo player, you would have to do all of these jobs. It just doesn't work solo. Thanks for the quick response, Khaos Systems!
Art style is great. The controls are awesome. There is not alot to do right now and you find treasure too quick, but with great potential comes great headache for the devs and hopefully they have some good drugs to push through.
Given the price point and the fact that I think this can do something amazing I'm gonna be a little lenient with my review. Launch day was rough to get to the point. I do not have a great pc but I can run other games (BG3, Windrose, Subnautica 2 etc etc) pretty well however this game I had little to no textures. Optimization needs some attention as it nearly bricked my PC. Again I have a frankenrig from old spare streaming parts so thats bound to happen with some titles. I think this is cute and has the chance to be a lot of fun but it needed more time prior to releasing into early access. I still think its worth picking up and letting the team work through it all.
Very fun, very cool :)
REDUCED BUILD SIZE BY 70%. Call this dev team the optimisers. My early impressions are that this team is quickly working towards improvements and adding fun silly things into the game. I've only seen the difference since last patch but small things like improvement to the ui are noticed and greatly appreciated. Even small game balancing to come closer to a specific vision that the devs wish to achieve gives me great faith in the team. The fans in the base to move around? Brilliant. When fishing (and combat with those pesky crabs) gets implemented, we will truly be gaming. Future looks bright.
So let me start by saying at this moment as I am writing this, the game is In an more then Early state. More towards an Alpha build then anything. Be aware before you buy it. Im giving it a lot of leeway for that reason. Having said that im very much hopefull for a potential entertaining friendslop game for my collection. The promissing konsept of an extraction underwater Sea of thieves like game is scratching a perticular itch in my brain. The art style choosen is already timeles for me and gives the game a plesant Atmosphere without sacrificing the potential for nasty see critters. (Lokking at you Kelp Eel). It has its bumps and edges wich are honstly rough but very much promissing. Definetly needs a better Tutorial or possibilitys for quick check ups on mechanics. Maybe a guid book/ overlay in the menue that gives you a quick overwiew. Where do i get Aire?, What are the diffrent items for? etc. Ill keep my eye on this one because i already had a fun time in the 4 or so hours that i played. If you are unsure if the game is for you, watch a few plays online or try it out and retun it afterwards. Id say its possible to see everything this game has to offer (For now) in 2 hours. Even though I would suggest to give this one a chance. It is definetly better in a group. Just One more player changes the dynamic of the game completly. And the devs just dropped the big Sub for 3-4 players so even more misschif can happen. In general im very happy how fast updates have been releasd so far. I Played on releas day and couldnt start the game. One day later and it worked. Couple days later again and there was the next fix and aditional biom. So yea, good stuff ^^ I cant wait to see were this journy leads to, but new bioms and diffrent Subs with unique equipment seems exiting to me.^^ Stay dry Khaos Games, dont let the Salt of some People discurage you. There is a Treasure on the bottom of this game. And I for once cant wait to haul it.^^
Yar, lemmi dive even deeper mr dev! 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️ And give me cooler hats too! 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
Idea looks amazing, looking forward for the full vesion mainly for the missions and hazards. Its more like a sandbox for now.
