A game where the frying pan is the strongest weapon can only receive a thumbs up. 👍

Game start with promising but failing miserably. First no demo no info just throw you into the world. Ok possible opening. A town made into maze and we collect things. Thats it. There is little story but it cant get it together itself. While playing music blow my eardrums so I did everybody would do, entering options to reduce immense music sound but there is no sound setting. REALLY? what is it? Even DOS games has audio options. Can't enter building while holding weapon and dropped weapon disappear after entering so no store weapon front of buildings. Combat mechanics ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. When you attack if they success in first hit it became unbreakable streetfighter combo hit chain. Oh put your defense up? Nope it do nothing. Not break combo not prevent damage, nothing it do. Also our little character move sluggish and I walk faster than his run (and I am fat). So much wasted potential. Sad for developers who force that make this :(
I played this game because I didn't realize Beyond Hanwell was a sequel. So I stopped playing that, because I thought you'd have to play this one. you don't. I like that the main areas don't have combat. the areas look okay. but the music isn't programmed to fade out at all so it just continues on and on as loud as possible, the actual combat on the street sucks because you can block but there's no indication of whether you hit or got hit, there's no meter for your health, because it regenerates generously automatically. but I'd rather a punishing damage system than having to expend sprint just to walk, and crawling at all other times. you'll have to sit still just to awkwardly press sprint until it runs out, because there's no controller support or menu for controls. The game asks you at the beginning if you want the locations highlighted on the map for your first playthrough, and there's no map button. I thought the game was okay the first four hours, and i finished it in four hours today, and my opinion has completely inverted. The last fight is being showered by previous enemies who you can't evade, and you can't tell if you've hit, because the actual boss, non-descript in personality and gameplay just stands there repeating voice lines hinting at a narrative that isn't there. I looked up how to beat him, and you really just hit him when you find him. so I tried again and got cornered, and eventually the screen went to the credits. I didn't need to plan or strategize or be frugal with items, he just died. Maybe there's a cutscene after, I didn't wait. It drove me so far up the wall I had to leave. I'm done with it, I can complete their much better directed, much better looking, much better feeling sequel. At first I thought this was babies first survival horror with one room puzzles and safe mazes. But there are so many elements lacking in what's necessary and so many systems that have no function in the game that every part I liked has been retroactively contextualized in my head as being overly ambitious at best or cynical filler at worst. Every good thing has since been put into their other, better games. This game was not worth the money they once asked. they grew to a point where they learned at put the game as free. If I wanted to play both games and payed any money for this one, I'd be furious. Trust me. All the story in this game is broken up in a efficacious way in each little maze, for a generic Government overreach slippery slope/Science fiction tripe jumble that's so insipid it may as well be a sandbox game. If you've had any demon/alien/mutant nightmare or writing project in middle school, YOU DON'T NEED TO PLAY THIS GAME. YOU DON'T NEED TO PLAY THIS GAME TO UNDERSTAND THE SECOND GAMES STORY.
This game looks like it could be good but my settings keep changing back and no settings to change the audio ? the game is loud af the music is off putting as well
This game is just not good, willing to try their new one though still very broken and buggy 1.5/10
for free overall alright.
Negative review because of the game itself but a positive comment for the dev. A good example of a B-Movie horror game. Scary enough to BE a horror but campy enough to not be THAT scary. A good premise but janky gameplay and combat. (♥♥♥♥ those teleporting ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to high-hell) Very ambitious overall, I can see the potential but good example of 'baby's first horror game' (affectionate) I have heard decent things about the sequel and it's improvements, so looking forward to that. Good to look back on to see how far the dev has come, other than that, I will probably never touch this again and I'm glad it's free. If I HAD paid for this it would have been refunded lmao
I enjoyed the game ,it's really underrated gave it a chance
