About
Welcome to Elderfield is a cozy horror RPG where the abnormal is normal, the townsfolk are odd, the eldritch beings watch over you and the local news reports seem stranger by the day.

Everything in Elderfield is unsettling, from the haunting, horror manga-inspired, hand-drawn visuals to the dark, lofi soundscapes composed by Dated. Despite the strange creatures lurking just outside your home, those who wander into Elderfield rarely find a reason… or option, to leave.

Customize your home and character, unravel daily mysteries, befriend the odd townsfolk (or even marry one!), go fishing, spend your afternoons mining and forage through the surrounding wilds… There's lots to do in Elderfield!

Cultivate your land, harvest your crops, and stop the growth of unruly tentacles. Manage a variety of strange, otherworldly livestock, grow useful crops like corn, pumpkins, teeth or eyeballs and hope that beings from the woods don’t wander onto your farm.

Choose your difficulty, how much suffering can you endure? For players seeking a peaceful life of harvest and discovery, cozy difficulty offers a more laid-back experience. For those who crave a challenge, the Old Gods are waiting.
Elderfield features a deep, turn-based combat system where you must utilize gathered resources, strategic buffs and diverse equipment to survive encounters with ancient, Lovecraftian horrors.
Die, learn, farm, and forage… Then die again.
Full RPG life sim with relationships, customization, fishing and more

Dark lofi soundtrack by Dated
Build your farm, manage animals, mine and forage to build resources

don't let the hour count fool you i've been playing this in alpha for months. Honestly, this game is a joy the combination of horror and combat is perfect and gameplay is pretty different from most farm sims. focusing more on turn based combat along with exploration opposed to just make farm bigger. that being said there is still plenty to do on the farm from raising "animals" and growing "crops". just don't be surprised if the crops fight back every now and again.
Very entertaining, you never know what secrets Elderfield has to offer!

With phrases like "RPGMaker horror slop" and "cozy farming sim slop" getting thrown around online all the time, making a cozy horror farming RPG might've been just plain bad optics, if it weren't for the fact that it's an absolute friggin gem. First of all, the art is spectacular. The overworld sprites are super charming and THE BACKGROUNDS??? ABSOLUTELY STUNNING??? Then you have the battle and talk art which are clearly inspired by Junji Ito's works, but also have a unique flavor too. The core battle system is great, and I love how the buff/debuff system ties into overworld actions and the whole "forces outside your understanding weighing down on your soul" thing. All in all awesome game, can't wait to see how it gets improved too. (personally, I'd love more unique character interactions)
Played the demo a little over a year ago, been on my wishlist ever since... bought it the day it came out and I've been loving it ever since.
I adore this game STRONGLY for the theme, music, art, vibe, characters, and story. I will say that comparing it to Stardew and others of a similar "farming" premise cheapens it. They really clearly tried to break the mold of traditional farming type games, and deserve to be known for being Welcome to Elderfield, and *not* for being "the spooky Stardew" game. That said, the games is RIDDLED with problems mechanically. Potent early game difficulty locks even on normal make progression miserable. I got to a point where nearly EVERY quest pointed to the mall, but even optimized and maxed gear (for my level and story point) had most enemies nearly 6 turning me (I didn't let them, but I had to retreat to heal and return to lather-rinse-repeat, essentially a mind-numbing farming process yielding only 8XP per kill. Which is another oddity. Most enemies yield identical XP, which I find frustrating, and a strange choice as it's one of the hallmarks of good RPGs - variety of reward in XP as well as items. Another BAD example of vomit programming, is the Lake Ghost quest. I saw the broadcast, went to investigate. Got the bones part done, and the Watcher NEVER appeared. I stayed at the Lakefront and periodically left and re-entered to refresh the map zone, and nothing. Only one part of that anomaly quest ever appeared (the bones), even on separate days that the anomalous event was shown in the news broadcast. Which I can only assume means that this specific Lake Ghost quest is either incomplete in the programming, or for my file specifically is somehow permanently incompletable. I spent FAR too many hours today loading and reloading, trying different triggers and refreshes and resets to no avail. RNG is absolute peanits, too. While I've had a good amount of good luck in a variety of things, it reminds me of my old high school friend who played VTM with me, and asked to used Blood Points to 'walk across the room". I love this game, but we REALLY do not need a dice roll for the tiniest little thing. (this coming from a D&D/VtM Dungeon Master and Storyteller respectively of over 25 years. BUT, it is what it is. You can save scum, or just reload once in a while if you really need to. I don't mind toooo much, and only reloaded for a bad roll twice. I was following this game for a long time, eagerly awaiting it, and on a core level, I do love this game a lot. I potently love the semi-warm but strongly-hostile relationship the characters have with the setting and various other characters, beings, and events. Again, the art and music especially are INCREDIBLY wonderful, and the writing for making entities strongly inspired by Lovecraft and other cosmic horror - while being uniquely its own setting and figures - really makes me very happy. I just.... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I just wish the programming would get a patch. Because my one big issue is admittedly a HUGE one. Which is the catch-22 blocks (needs items to get past strong enemies early on, but the items are behind said enemies), a grating lack of direction (as someone who adored Morrowind forcing the player to think and remember notes, you'd think I'd like this, but Elderfield sadly doesn't do this well), and then lastly I've just run into an INSANE amount of quests that are not just bugged, but outright broken. The Lake Ghost has my VERY favorite type of "normal" horror - water and ghosts... and it figures that it's the ONE television broadcast anomaly that is broken. I've seen the dev respond here, so if you see this, I want you to know that I VERY genuinely adore this game.... but PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF DAEUS FIX THE SLEW OF QUEST BREAKING BUGS.
只要愿意倾听玩家意见,其实还是不错的游戏
its like stardew, fear and hunger, junji ito, and look outside all came together and had a beautiful baby
I've been playing this since before version 0.7 thanks to Patreon, so my play time on Steam doesn't show my real hours. This is exactly the kind of game that I love to just unwind with; - Stardew-esque calming farming - Romancable skeleton - House decorating - Eldritch horrors beyond understanding - A surprisingly nice battle system - Mining, Foraging, and (ugh..) Fishing - And a fair bit more that I can't remember If you like Stardew, like Lovecraftian stories, and like RPGs in general, then this is very much a worthwhile buy.
Died in my sleep on day 3. 10/10 experience
Si Stardew Valley y Fear and hunger tuvieran relaciones de manera apasionada y, de ese amor, naciera un hijo. Ese hijo sin duda seria este juego. Juegazo
