Amazing game, barely any bugs considering it is early access, easy to learn, games are quick and fun, highly recommended
***Many special thanks go to a very special person in my life for proofing this writing. Waves of the Alantide (WA) is a real-time strategy title with its core focus centering primarily on the rising ‘battle royale’ formula. There is nothing terribly impressive in terms of aesthetics with this title, however discussed below are the concepts that elicit moderate praise with this Early Access title. I must admit that I was not able to play against any human connections, however the single-player mode was thoroughly assessed for this writing. The privilege to analyze this content came at the behest of a keycode sent sent for review purposes.
Here are a few reasons to evade a ‘sinking feeling’ in WA: Gameplay - As is customary with the stated templates, players erect and mobilize armies toward enemy encampments with the goal of being the determinable victor, all without succumbing to a collapsing continent. The map is delegated to a hexagonal grid with each action such as movement, colonizing, and attacking requiring a timed cool-down effect. Strategy is governed by placement of cities isolated from the encroaching water’s edge, which demolishes any structures or personnel in the given hexagon. Players may claim opponents’ cities with developed armies to expand their own territory and subsequently keep a headquarters afloat. Through these tactics of base-building and conquering mechanics, this title flourishes. Technological advancements through an integrated system of upgrades ranging from increases to resource development to physical placements which grant food for army upkeep. Enemy artificial intelligence is claimed to not ‘cheat’ as can be seen in some real-time strategy titles by restricting them from seeing within the fog of war and beginning with bonus assets or units, and WA appears to conform to this statement adequately. When playing with the title’s artificial intelligence you may edit the number of opponents accessible, as well as the size of the map measured by hexagonal spaces to provide a range of customization options. TL:DR - As an Early Access title, I can say with confidence that Waves of the Alantide boasts an uncomplicated concept and execution. It delivers an experience that is intriguing and only stands to improve as the developer’s road map toward completion promises an abundance of promise. I recommend supporting the developers if you enjoy real-time strategy titles, or provocative entries into the battle royale formula. Thanks for reading. Do you feel this review helped in any way?
Fantastic concept ! As an avid boardgame player I was waiting this for eons. Has solo (with NON CHEATIN IA), but for me nuts is multiplayer obviously. Game length is perfect also, not too short but long enough to get a real strategy (before seeing waves crushing everything 😉. Developer is very very active, and update with community advices. Come on guy, stop sleeping and push your game h24 !
Good Game!! It has a cool down mechanic similar to the game 'Wartile'... you issue a command to a unit and there's a meter that fills up for that action to happen. There are 4X like things in this game, from production, resources, tech research, military, and food. But unlike a typical 4X the time for things to happen is shortened a great deal, you'll get to the late game within minutes. I'm looking forward to this game as the potential of being a singular person's vision it can focus in on what it wants to accomplish.
Very nice game, totally indie, totally cool and totally multiplayer. If you play this game against other people, friends or not, remember two things: - Nobody is your friend on Atlantide. - Fear the ocean because he is running after you.
Bon jeu!
