NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits

It's an ok but forgettable platformer that doesn't do anything special.

This video game has the most broken and insulting save system I have ever seen in my life. First of, there are no manual save options. Secondly, auto save checkpoints are extremely scarce and few in between. But the biggest middle finger is this - if you quit the game after reaching an autosave near the end of a level, next time you boot the game, you'll be thrown IN THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE LEVEL!!! Yeah, I'm not kidding - the game ignores autosave checkpoints. So, basically, autosave points are completely useless - once you start a level, you HAVE to finish it, otherwise all your progress will be lost. I don't know what madman thought of this broken thing, but be warned - this game is NOT worth it.

NyxQuest features a Greek mythology setting/story, and you control both the main character, Nyx (who has limited flying and gliding abilities, which form the basis of the platforming side of things), and the 'hand of Zeus' with which you assist her by throwing blocks around and such forth (oh yes, bow down before the awesome block-moving powers of the Father of the Gods!) It's a fairly relaxed kind of platformer, without any pixel-perfect jumping required (thank goodness), and I found the flight-based movement to be an enjoyable change. It's not that you can't easily mess up in this game; merely that the chances of doing so once you know what you want to do are much less than in some other games; so while it is challenging at times, it's rarely ever really tough. Gameplay has enough variety to keep things interesting, with a handful of different sorts of environmental interactions that you must learn to perform whilst you manoeuvre Nyx about the levels. The graphics are lovely. Audio is nice, if not especially remarkable. The English translation (for subtitles) is a little lacking, but the story isn't all that prevalent, so it's not really an issue. Performance was generally silky smooth on a machine which was old by 2010 standards, so I would expect no issues at all on a more recent machine. It took me a little over 6 hours to complete, and with only 12/20 of the secret items (which you can replay levels to look for), so there's good value for money here. Definitely worth a look for fans of physics platform games. It's not Trine; but if you enjoy that style of game then NyxQuest may prove to be an enjoyable little addition to your collection.

Lo recomiendo si lo encuentras con descuento, ya que es un título originario de la Wii, y posteriormente porteado a pc y móviles, pero no quiere decir que sea malo, es un juego sencillo, con mecánicas frescas y un aparado visual y sonoro de los más chill... cuando no hay enemigos jaja. Lo recomiendo por nostalgia y porque en pc si bien no es una experiencia de lo más placentera como lo fue en la wii, es la 2da mejor plataforma en la que lo puedes disfrutar... pero con descuento.

Short and sweet, very enjoyable, the physics of objects can feel a little odd at times, but otherwise it's such an inventive and clever game.

Простенький, на первый взгляд, платформер с красивой визуальной картинкой и музыкальным сопровождением. Играл в него раньше на телефоне, а узнав, что он есть в стиме, решил купить и посмотреть что да как. Как оказалось, не зря, ведь разница в сложности очевидна: На ПК трудно привыкнуть к управлению, из-за чего уровни проходятся в два - три раза дольше, чем на мобильном устройстве, не считая частых и глупых смертей, но от этого даже интереснее, потому что присутствует чувство вызова, ведь для получения достижений нужно пройти испытания как можно быстрее. Также заметна разница в дизайне уровней, на телефоне намеренно упростили некоторые части для легкости прохождения, отчего на компьютере присутствует ощущение хардкора. Однозначно рекомендую ознакомиться с данным творением. Считаю, что цена слишком занижена и хвалю разработчиков за проделанную работу, а за саундреки отдельный палец вверх.

Used to play it on the tablet. Playing with mouse and keyboard instead of tactile screen is kinda difficult at first. Music is as amazing as I remember it.
