If you are a Typeracer/Monkeytype regular player don't bother with this. The typing mode does not show what keys you are typing if you make a mistake, does not force you to backspace and is not case sensitive. It also entails typing single sentences that appear one after the other after ~0.5 seconds. The fact that mistakes are not shown similarly to most online typing games broke my brain, to be honest.
Can type 100wpm. Cannot remember where keys are while playing. (Had fun anyway.) Refreshing and unique, Waver definitely feels worth the purchase if you enjoy something both straightforward in concept and infuriatingly difficult to perfect. The rhythm of the "waves" will take some getting used to, however once you find it it makes sense (I found this difficult to admit, as my first instinct was to just be mad at the game). The learning curve is not the smoothest, but as you start to improve, receiving better scores/perfect waves is very satisfying. This game definitely feels more like it's made for an experienced typist looking to test and refine skills/dexterity, as there are little to no practical educational aspects for younger learners (outside of typist mode, which is just your basic WPM typing test). Art, music, and general sound design are delightful and set a very pleasant/encouraging mood for the entire game, which is nice to have considering how sad it is when you lose 27-8 because you can't read backwards fast enough. The story contains just enough humor to ease the pain of being downright terrible at the game. 10/10 do not regret learning that I'm just as awful at cheering for sports as I am playing them.
OMG I am already in love with this game!
Where all the other typing games focus on typing very fast WAVER is different. Instead, you type to the rhythm of the wave. What a unique theme to a game! Depending on how good the wave is it helps your team win. Don't think it's always about the same wave over and over. Nope! There are variations in the wave depending if it's a home or away game. Then also depending on where the game is taking place. You might at this point be wondering what the game is. Do not concern yourself with that question. Only the wave matters to win. Overall, WAVER is great! I almost can't believe it's real. The fact that the game plays the premise so straight worked wonders for keeping me engaged. It takes itself so seriously. Going too far into the ridiculous humor would have ruined it.
