This bullet hell arcade could be decent with some polish, but it's absolutely dreadful in current form. First of all, all of the projectiles and ships are the same color or a shade of that color (friendly and hostile). It may not be a problem early in the game, but when the enemies start to spam I can't tell the difference. Also, the screen shake is completely out of control. When you have a bigger weapon like the spread, the game might as well be running at 5 frames. Your fire is automatic so you can't even take a break from that lag. Combine insane shake with color problems and the game is unplayable. I literally can't react to enemy bullets, all I see is a shaking screen covered in nonsense. I hope the soundtrack was made for the game, it's really the only reason I am willing to tolerate it. Aside from that, it's a pretty generic arcade that we played many times before. You can use a "warp speed" to speed up, but that is the only interesting mechanic I can think of. There are much better games in this genre that cost less.
Pros:
+ awesome soundtrack + many boss fights + several weapons + achievements
Cons:
- uses the same color for all projectiles - the screen shake gets pretty bad - very generic features Overall Thoughts: 5/10 There are so many decent bullet hell games on Steam that cost next to nothing, so I can't think of a reason to recommend it. Maybe if the developer fixes those 2 problems, it might be okey under $2. The soundtrack is awesome though.
If the game shows some improvements, I will consider removing this review. Game is a ton of fun and has great music. Don't expect any hand holding though, this game is hard!
Fun and hard. I did encounter a couple of bugs, though. 1. Accidentally changed my keybindings. Then tried to fix and it didn't quite work too well. Like warp was still on spacebar, but didn't work, so had to change it to... space? So dev needs to test and fix changing of keys better. 2. Hovering a button on some option menu gave tooltip that was clearly not intended...
Warp-Tek is a side scrolling shooter. Aliens have stolen your dog and you need to get him back. When you play you need to try and get 100% of the journey completed to retrieve your dog. As you go you get health drops if needed, warp drops so you can boost for a time, and bigger weapons when you defeat one of the Bosses. It's all set to a great upbeat sound track. I give it two plays in my video and managed to cover 18% of the distance. Take a look to see what it's like... https://store.steampowered.com/app/924870/WARPTEK/ Thanks for watching. Really fun, some balancing issues but overall it is a fun skill based space shooter with a lot of variety :)
