This game is now #1 on my "Best Zachlikes" leaderboard, beating every single Zachtronics game and then some. Mind-bending mechanics, creative puzzles with lots of variety, good tutorials and a smooth difficulty curve ranging from "let's get familiar with the mechanics!" to "hold up, is this even possible?". You start out with the usual "build this thing repeatedly" challenges, but after that, randomized inputs and dynamic output specifications mean that your factory needs to be able to react to whatever it is processing and change its behavior on demand. The portal mechanics are very fun to figure out in detail during the course of the game. At first portals are just there to rotate and flip objects, but later puzzles will require you to use portals in increasingly creative ways. A minor downside is that the level editor is not designed for anyone who isn't the developer. Creating a level is mostly an exercise in typing zero-feedback console commands and editing text files. I'm hopeful that the interface will improve with future updates. Solid game, 9/10. Will be 10/10 with editor improvements and 11/10 once it has all of the planned features listed on its website.
This is a really tough thumbs down. This game appears to have everything I'm looking for in a zachlike, with the exception of one crucial feature: Histograms. I didn't think I'd miss them as much as I do, but without any ability to compare my solutions to other people, I'm left with basically no motivation to optimize or refine my solution to a level. Could this be faster? Is there a mechanic I'm missing? Who knows! Every solution exists in a vacuum and you could theoretically spend a lot of time chasing an optimization on a level that isn't actually possible. In my opinion, this is a fatal flaw for this style of engineering game. I've checked out the development roadmap and there's no sign of this feature being planned, so unfortunately I probably won't play much more.
Fantastic zachlike, and I do not say this lightly - I've played everything in the genre and this is only of the only three games not by Zachtronics that I've liked. Pros: - Very wide-ranging puzzles, from assembly to sorting/filtering to implementing digital logic to magic tricks. - Excellent difficulty progression, final levels are serious headscratchers, and there are optional challenges in most levels to make life harder for yourself. - The essential feature of zachlikes - levels conditions are simple enough and mechanics are predictable enough that you can think about approaches even when away from the game, and then quickly implement your ideas. - Extremely flexible mechanical framework - tools can be welded together and moved like normal blocks and even portals can be moved through other portals, allowing for very dynamic factory design. Cons: No real large cons. The closest thing to a con is that the interface has room for improvements. I don't mean this as an euphemism for "crap" - it's not painful to use, as _many_ zachlikes/factory builders are, but requires spending a few more time and clicks than needed.
It's a Zachlike game: Build a factory which produces output from input. The building blocks go really well together. There is a steady learning curve: In the beginning you feel as if you were powerless and can't do anything. It's too tight. It's too bulky. But once you realize the potential possibilities that are offered by portals (and they are immense!), you suddenly can build everything! I just reached the final chapters. The levels get increasingly puzzlier, requiring some mind-bending mechanics and creative tinkering. Where other factory-games just get "bigger" this game gets "more complex". If you have fun with factorygames, but puzzles are your favorite, then this game is totally for you.
10/10 best game ever in my life

Easily one of the best Zachlikes I've played. Starts out fairly simple, gets seriously brain-bending as one gets to the later levels. Strongly recommended to anyone that enjoys the Zachlike "genre". Game does lack some polish in terms of user interface, but the quality of the gameplay is really really superb. The epiphanies hit hard and are quite satisfying.
fun puzzle g
Yes the ui and graphics are ♥♥♥♥, but the gameplay is fantastic
