My first real introduction to the WH40K universe was DoW, the first game. I know the Blood Ravens get a lot of hate, being called "Blood Harpies", thieves, and hoarders, and "Loyalist-Traitors" (for possible origin from the Thousand Sons), but they are still my favorite Space Marine Chapter with the Carcharondons being a close second (though I know very little about the latter; I just know about them). This game does seem a bit hard though when dealing with bosses, like the Orc war boss. I know they are titanic, insanely tough, etc., etc., but it shouldn't be that insane dealing with a squad getting wiped out every minute. Still, it is rewarding and satisfying to finally kill them. May the Blood Ravens continue to earn glory in the Imperium of Man, and the God-Emperor bestowing his eternal favor on this Chapter.

Cool game and all, not full price cool tho.
Bought this game on sale for 7.99. Pros and Cons: - Combat is exciting and tactical, at first. It feels genuinely good to overcome some trials with limited squads. - But then you unlock the Dreadnaught, and enemy unit variety keeps growing in such a way that many enemies become bullet sponges, demanding you bring him along. - The first campaign (Vanilla DW2) is awesome. But Chaos Rising is just more of the same with spongier enemies. Meanwhile, you don't play a new faction; and many of your squads have the same abilities as before. - This leads to a fairly boring experience. I was really hoping I'd be playing Chaos in Chaos Rising. Instead, I have the same assault squad/tactical marines/decimator squads as before; except weaker, because they took away all the rewards I built up in the first campaign. All in all, I wish this was more of an RTS. I want to build more than one squad of Space Marines. The enemy is fielding 150 troops at once. Meanwhile here I am stuck with 4 Tactical Marines, my hero unit, my psyker/or Dreadnaught, and the other 4 specialists. So in other words, I'm commanding 9 units MAX at all times. I do recommend the first campaign. It's fun for a single playthrough. But despite being a "cover-based shooter," not a lot of cover based shooting goes on. What actually happens is you charge your Dreadnaught in and ground pound. Then charge your Commander in and ground pound. Then charge your assault marines in and ground pound. And on and on until everything has been flattened. Guns/tech take a backseat. Abilities are where it's at. Gimme more shooty stuff. Pls+thx. Also, missions in Chaos Rising are unnecessarily long. The shortest Chaos Rising mission has at least +20 mins on the average base campaign mission. They're overstuffed with enemies for no good reason.
El mejor de todos los tiempos
Well... Dawn of war II looked at the first one’s epic galaxy scale ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and said: “Naaaah, what if we made it about four dudes and their emotional support Tactical Squad doing war crimes on a budget?” and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it IS a masterpiece. There is only one bad thing about this game. You’ve got six squads but the gamedesigner keeps going “lol only bring four and cry about it”. Most of the campaign you’re running around with half an army like a budget Tyranid swarm that forgot to multiply, and characters that not even in field react to things if they were here. This is clearly a co-op focus "feature" and that's pretty much all of the bad things that the game has. The characters though? Chef’s kiss. I got dangerously attached to these walking ideal aryan boys. The squad containns: Robin Hood with jump pack and chainsword; the guy who definetly ♥♥♥♥♥ his power armour; the silent "literally me" commander; the Al Qaida veteran with insectophobia; living corpse in metal gear. and finally a guy who likes to be positive even in armageddon. The whole squad is pure concentrated grimdark autism and I love it. The missions is... okay? 90% of the time you just sprint from objective A to objective B, eventually destroyng all of the xenos in the map with power of hate. And then you face giant Carnifex tries to anally rape you, kill him for the Emperor and repeat. But the gameplay loop is so addictive you won’t care at all. You’ll be too busy micro-managing your angels of death like a schizophrenic while a Hive Tyrant the size of a cathedral tries to use your squad as dental floss. Graphics still looks really good, tons of gore and blood, juicy animations. Absolutly stunning OST. Overall this is the most fun squad-based tactical slaughterhouse possible. If you’ve got the balls to blow half of your squads with remote detonator just to save one building for the name of the Emperor - BUY IT. 10 dead xenos out of 10 THE EMPEROR PROTECTS!
DOW is always fun

Base campaign is fun but repetitive and light on narrative. The expansion campaign, Chaos Rising, is what really hooked me. Top-notch storytelling. Wish it were longer.
