Reviews
I wasn't sure what to expect, but this ended up being a really fun game. The mix of mining, upgrading, and defending your spider keeps things interesting, and I always wanted to see what was waiting a little deeper.
It felt suffocating. The mines all have the exact same layout and secret locations. Nothing the player does actually matters - fighting is pointless, and even digging and gathering resources is ultimately useless. The only thing players need to do is collect the keys. By the time I realized this, I had already unlocked all the main meta-upgrades and had only found two out of five keys. I could freely move around the map, but I had no way to win because the final boss just instantly kills you. Did the developers ever consider that this isn’t fun? And it looks like the key doesn't spawn in every run. It’s a grindslop and a waste of time. But I'll admit the game looks pretty and is engaging at first.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.88/day in the week to Jul 21 → 6.8/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This is one of those games where you physically cannot win in a single run. Not arguing semantics over roguelite/roguelike/whatever. The meta progression between runs **is the game.** The runs themselves are just timewaster lotteries where you grind meta currency and hope you get lucky enough to find the progression keys so that you'll be allowed to play the rest of the game in a future run someday. It doesn't matter how good a run is. It doesn't matter if you mine super rare resources and fully upgrade your stuff. It doesn't matter if you find a super powerful weapon+relic combo. You have a scripted death like 30 min into the run, and the only thing that matters is the meta progression. This may be fine for some people, but it is not my cup of tea. Personally, I'll get my mining+wave defense roguelike fix from Dome Keeper. The combat is a bit simple but the game is very well fleshed out. Much more enjoyable than this game imo.
actually playing this game reminded me very much of dome keeper. basically same idea with comparable execution. obviously there are differences but also many similarities. compared to the dome your spider can move around and that's necessary because instead of one big mine you get various caves limited in size to explore and loot. breaking through clouds while moving up or down the wall leads to new biomes while triggering a massive attack wave. the smaller caves are certainly easier to handle for people who tend to get lost in a single giant mine. however the limited size leaves no room for cool big tech like elevator, base drill, teleporter and resource compression into bundles you can use to great effect in dome keeper. but there is other stuff, obviously. like in dome keeper you face attack waves at regular intervals and you need to hurry back to defend your home once the timer hits zero. if you hate the idea already these two games are totally not for you. the permanent upgrades have a noticeable impact and help a great deal. however the upgrades and tools you find each run are randomized and occasionally you'll end up with a real trash collection. not exactly fun... still the game was made with a lot of love and attention to detail. there's no denying that. however as always there are a few downsides. firstly you can't save at all during a run! either you finish in one sitting which takes up to 30 minutes or 60 minutes late game. or you start all over when you need to quit due to some real life unpleasantness. that's obnoxious! secondly some details are lacking after all. for example some attack waves are really serious if you haven't found any semi-useful combat upgrades yet. also later speed upgrades for the player turn useless pretty quickly since the sluggish camera doesn't follow fast enough. all that extra speed means nothing when I can't see where i'm going and therefore keep bumping into walls and speeding into dead ends! if you need to pick just one game you should probably prefer dome keeper over this. otherwise both are worth recommending and checking out while offering a comparable experience. finishing the base game took 11 hours. 27 hours in total with dlc story and getting 100% achievements unlocked. but i certainly didn't rush it. dlc note: sadly the Wall World: Deep Threat dlc is needed to 100% the game. you can read my review of Dome Keeper here: https://steamcommunity.com/id/Meister_Leuchte/recommended/1637320/
Its Dome Keeper, but you move around. You walk around, then stop to mine for ore, then run back to your mech base to fight the current wave of enemies. Convert your ore into upgrades, so you can mine other ores, so you can get more upgrades. Do that enough times, the final boss show up. You need to keep failing runs until you get enough permanent upgrades to defeat the final boss. Relies a bit too much on RNG. Since both resources for the temporary upgrades and the permanent upgrades are random, you might not get them on a run and stay stuck on an inferior weapon, because the upgrade progression requires you to craft the lower ones first before crafting the highest tier ones. Had a bit of fun, but I still don't like the Dome Keeper gameplay.
It could've been shorter, I'm 7 hours in and its getting a bit repetitive, although it is quite satisfying to see the incremental increase in your abilities.
This is a fun game. There is a good gameplay loop of 1) mine as deep as you can to gather resources, 2) hurry back to the surface and fight an enemy wave (which appears when an indicator bar reaches full) with your best weapons, 3) upgrade your weapons / mining equipment using the gathered resources. There are other complications including the recurring main boss and extra enemy waves which occur when passing through a
cloud layer
. It should be noted that it is nearly impossible to beat the main boss during your first run because you will need to buy permanent upgrades to your spider vehicle after each run. Also you will need to locate
all 5 of the encryption keys
. If you feel like the game is too difficult at first, I would recommend that you read some guides, practice using the permanent upgrades that let you ascend / descend quickly, and try out different weapons or upgrade paths during each run.
Wall World is a neat game with a great pixel art style. The core gameplay loop of mining, running up and down the wall fighting enemies and looking for the next mine is fun. There is only one thing I would note as a weak point and that is not being able to safe mid run. This broke the game for me a bit. I needed a break after about 45 minutes and lost all progress of that run. If you aren't time restricted, this is a great game though!
