About

You’re the newly appointed CEO of Vostok Inc. As a greedy, space-capitalist your ultimate goal is to get filthy, stinking, rich!
First, you’ll need to raise some start-up capital by twin-stick blasting enemies, asteroids and anything else that gets in your way. Once you’ve collected enough moolah it’s time to land on planets and start mining, terraforming and colonizing.
Use that extra moolah to upgrade your ship, craft weapons and build more planetside business enterprises to rake make even more moolah!
With your pockets overflowing, you’ll be able to expand beyond our solar system, across more than 40 planets, recruiting managers, playing awesome retro inspired mini-games, fighting evil bosses and listening to a thumping customizable synth soundtrack along the way, all the while letting the (you guessed it!) MOOOLAHHH!!! roll in.
Shmup Meets Idler
While the reviews of this game are mixed, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Vostok Inc.. You are capitalist colonists who want to conquer all the star systems. Making money is all that matters. Destroying asteroids, building factories on planets, killing enemy ships, completing races and a variety of other tasks should help build the empire. Money will help with improving the ships weapons, fuel, health and other aspects like upgrading the radar. It will also help you unlock the other star systems, or purchase buildings and their upgrades on each planet. Each star system has a set enemy force, with a boss that will appear after a certain amount of money is reached, defeating the boss will allow you to travel to the next star system, there are six total. The plot revolves around your company interacting with the main inhabitants of each star system. I will say, some of the dialogue is really entertaining, even if the story isn't all too gripping. There's a lot of other features, like executives, who give bonuses to production if they are happy. You keep them happy by giving them food, drink and gifts. Honestly, keeping them happy is a chore and I think this aspect of the game could be improved drastically. These executives also offer an arcade game, where your goal is to get as high a score as possible, there's games that reference DOOM and Space Invaders and a few more. They're fun, but getting the score needed for the achievements are a bit tough. Speaking of achievements, the game has almost 600 of them. Thankfully, you don't need to get them all for the Steam 100% but, there's a lot to do if you want to truly complete this game. Honestly, it isn't a perfect game, but I really enjoyed my time with it. I think the price could be a bit lower but overall, I recommend it.
Got it for free so no loss for me. But it's incredible infuriating to the point where you just wish you never got a key in the first place. First of all I like the idea, although it basically just combines cookie clicker with asteriods. But whoever designed the controls needs a spanking. Keyboard is almost unusable, controller doesn't make it better. Some enemies are just obnoxious and infuriating. you get punished for missing any shot immediately and you don#t get enough money to improve anything. The menu design is horrible and done by someone who doesn't understand basic usability. The game has quite some years already and yet I had to get into the community to find out where the hell the options are. Don't waste your money or time on it.
Decently fun, but very buggy. Neither a good idler, nor a great shoot-em-up. Both aspects are almost half fun, but you can't lean into either to progress. A good idea but the execution is, at best, quarter-arsed. It feels like no thought went into the gameplay by anyone who has ever played either and idler/clicker or a shoot-em-up. Fun concept: absolutely. Execution couldn't be worse. I would recommend this to anyone who both enjoys terrible shoot-em-ups and even worse idlers.
To be fair, I didn't think this game was for me - even at $3. It was part of some bundle with a game I did want. I thought I'd try it just to clear up my cache of untried games. I went into it - knowing it's a shooter and pokes fun at capitalistic greed. However, as another review mentioned the tutorial was quite obnoxious and while I didn't expect voice actors the sound chosen for that narrator - bathing naked in cash in the title - is undeniably irritating. I didn't make it 10 minutes into the game.
Capitalism is fun
Should play this on PS. The control really suck even with steam input.
