If in "News" for a game you only find advertisement for another game then there is nothing more to say. Avoid.
I picked this up on sale for $1.70, because the plot seemed intriguing and the price was low enough that it seemed worth the risk. Unfortunately, I ended up with a game so frustrating to try to operate that I gave up after 25 minutes. For some reason, the game is very, very laggy on my Linux desktop, and the controls are clunky as all get-out. Minor things like trying to scroll through my quest log to remind myself what I was supposed to do were extraordinarily difficult. Speech bubbles always appeared with no text in them, and I'd have to click a second time to see any words. Trying to pick up items had the feel of trying to get a stuffed toy out of a coin-operated claw machine. Even aside from the clunkiness, I found the game itself rather confusing, too. Explanations did pop up as I had my character try to interact with things, but I must've completely missed something with the combat, because I could not manage to get through a single battle without my monster getting killed off. On the other hand, I'd managed to trigger so many explanation dialogs about crafting that it overwhelmed me. There seems to be a lot of stuff in this game that I didn't really get to, so I wouldn't say that it's totally without merit. Clearly a lot of work went into the game, However, the severe performance issues made me unwilling to get past that early-game "argh I don't know where to go or how to do anything" hurdle. It also concerns me that after eight updates in the first month after release, this game has seen no updates (or even communication) since April… this suggests that the developers have already walked away. Maybe they'll be back, I don't know, but as it is I cannot recommend this game, even for $1.70.

This is the sum of all fears. Someone let furries make a video game. This is a terrible retro JRPG with bad furry art. It's even worse than it sounds. This game gave me cancer and now I'm out of a gaming PC because I had to incinerate the one I was using just to make sure this game was properly eliminated. There's simply no language on earth expressive enough to describe how important it is that nobody should play this game ever.
This game is amazing so far, ever since i got this game its the only one ive been playing. you can farm, craft (alot of stuff) and as you level those crafting skills you unlock more stuff, capture monsters (well more like summon monsters), exploration, day and night cycles, breeding and the list goes on. it does sometimes lag or freeze for a few seconds but that didnt stop me from enjoying the game, totally worth the money.
Normally I just ignore these types of games as they aren't usually made with quality in mind. Though this game seemed to have been different. The multiple class selections, a new and interesting story concept, combined with complex battle mechanics. For the price...I thought I could take the risk. In some ways I am glad I did. The game itself is very different than anything I have played before, with a lot of various activities and a deep crafting system. The real problem is that while the game has tutorials for some things, it doesn't directly help you with other features. For example, I needed to craft lockpicks as a Thief class, but I had no way of knowing where the crafting bench was. Because different things must be crafted at different crafting furnishings(IE: Cheese at an Oven, Potions at an alchemy table, glassworks at a foundry, etc). I found it by accident while wandering around. It's located in the Thief's Den, and the game doesn't tell you this. However, it does railroad you to that location eventually if you immediately do the main story quests. Also, I needed milk for a quest that I could not decline, yes there are some quests you are given each day that you can't refuse. This quest had a time limit for completion, I had to first figure out how to get goats for the milk. Which, had I immediately went and did the uncle quest I was given at the start of the game, I would have been given some low quality goats. Instead I spent a ton of gold on a goat vendor that happened to be around on that day (and only that day for some reason). I personally feel it should have been more clear at the beginning that I should have done these steps first before exploring. These quests do introduce some very basic and necessary aspects of the game that a new player shouldn't miss before progressing. I myself experienced two bugs with two quests. One where the NPC never showed up where they were supposed to (in a tent), and the other where the quest log would not start, but would keep attempting to and kept giving me runetickets. Minor bugs that aren't game breaking but there should be an expectation of the possibility for these. The map system was confusing at first, and didn't really help me navigate the game very well. Though once I got used to how it was structured, it made sense after. The battle system is pretty in-depth in terms of monster variety. Battles were fun at first, but sometimes felt tedious when I was just trying to get to different places. You can try to escape from battles with the "esc" key to make it go faster, but doesn't always work. Also, there is no way to load a saved game in the beginning. You have to completely exit the game and restart it. Many of the problems I experienced with the game were pretty minor, and didn't really detract from my overall experience. I mean, for the price I felt it was worth it. Which is more than I could say for most of the RPGmaker games I've seen.
I am happy I finally got a copy of this game! It is far more complex than I previously believed it to be. And honestly, I thought it’d not be as well constructed being as it is a RPG maker title. But dang is it obvious that the creator put a lot of work into this little game. You don't simply walk around capturing monsters, but rather you thieve, loot, bounty hunt, fight and complete quests to collect runes which when combined enable to you obtain creature eggs. You craft, steal, aid citizens, and fight the evil megalomaniac that has formed a monopoly on the land via his bank. There is a great deal of monsters to collect, locks to be picked, a good story, lots of different crafting pursuits, and different areas to explore. A charming game that quickly eats hours away without you even noticing how much time has passed. I have encountered a couple lagging issues but it is nothing big enough to deter me from playing the game.
Void Monsters: Spring City Tales is a fun monster trainer/simulation game. Actually, it's not really what I expected when I bought the game, but I am far from disappointed. The game begins with you returning home after your parents were brutally murdered only to find your home town sinking into debt. You inherint your parents' estate...along with their 52,000 gold debt, which accrues interest daily. You must raise money to pay off your debt while also helping the villagers with various tasks. You really have to balance making money and adventuring. There are lots of things to do! You can grow crops and raise goats. You need the things you grow and harvest from the goats to craft various items to sell or use. You will also need items you can only get by fighting against wild Void Monsters using your own trained monsters. You can gather runes and summon a large variety of different Void Monsters to help you on your way. Overall, I am really enjoying the game. I have encountered a few bugs, but nothing that keeps the game from being playable. I have had the game freeze on me occasionally, and there seems to be a memory leak causing the game to slow to a crawl after playing for a couple hours...a simple restart of the game fixes the issue. Otherwise, the gameplay and controls work very well.
Still typos in the first 10 minutes after like what... 6 patches? How can you expect anyone to play this game?
Graphics freeze constantly on my machine. Game continues working but nothing changes on screen so it's unplayable. Got an hour and a bit on my initial playing of the game and no more then 10 minute stretches after that.
Okay, I have to say this is one of the most fun games I've played for 5 dollars EVER. I literally have 9 hours and some change on it, all from today. I couldn't put it down! As others mentioned it's like Stardew Valley and Pokemon. You have to find these runes to summon eggs which turn into monsters you can put in your party, You start out able to have two others and your hero. Then you get up to three others to make yourself a four person party. I feel like I've hardly scratched the surface of this game and I've been playing it for 9 hours. I do wish they had all the different crafting areas in your farm, because you can find a ring to teleport you back there from anywhere and then you have to run across town to find an alchemist. But that's a small complaint really. If you like Stardew Valley and old school RPG type games where you pick attack, magic, items or defend, similiar to old school Final Fantasy, this is a bargain!
