I'm sorry but this experience is very small and not as nice as in the trailer. Maybe it will be developed in the future but for now it is not worth paying money for. Sorry
Among the fast paced shooters, challenging puzzle games and simulation titles available for the Vive, there wasn't really anything where you could just sit or lay back and relax. My wife and I made do with custom panoramic artwork for the Steam VR menu screen for the first few months that we had our Vive. All of that changed when we got a chance to test out Vistascapes VR. Vistascapes offers virtual reality renderings of a vista on top of a mountain, a forest where you can almost feel the early morning or twilight dew, a fireworks setting that I really wish had been available for US Independence Day and a beautifully rendered sitting room with a window overlooking a forest while it rains. The first time I turned on Vistascapes, I ended up pulling up my chair to match the chair in the "rain room" setting and sat and relaxed and watched the rain fall against the windows. The sound effects and lighting add to the atmosphere and just like an autumn evening, I found myself wanting a warm cup of tea and actually picked up the rendered cup sitting on the rendered table next to me to take a sip! This isn't a Triple A title with tons of bells and whistles, but Vistascapes VR provides several relaxing atmospheric locations that let you take a break from the action and just relax. I've had a lot of fun with it and with a low cost of entry, I give it a big thumbs up.

I like those calm VR experiences where you just walk around and enjoy a nice scenery and I would also be willing to pay something for it if it is well made. But since we have Destinations, the Lab and a lot of other free scenery apps, like the master of them all Google Earth, a tech demo like Vistacapes VR falls short. I bought it on sale for 50 cents and do not regret it since I just like having games in my collection anyways, but for non-collectors I can say, save your money and enjoy the mentionned programs which deliver so much more content and perfection. Unfortunately not recommended. Twitch Channel : https://www.twitch.tv/mrorange55 Youtube Channel : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1UE5TPoF0HX0HVpF_E4uPQ/videos?view_as=subscriber
It's an ok experience for that price. Basically you get 4 places to explore if you don't include the starting place. As for gaming goes, there's absolutly nothing to do in these places except for launching fireworks in one of them. However, the fireworks were really well made with good sounds and visuals, and made it a joy to watch. I thought all scenes seemed a bit empty, with few details and things to look at. If it would had provided better details overall, like in one scene you can see the raindrops moving down the window, it could have been a very nice experience, but the world seems very empty and static. It still delivers good sounds and who doesn't find sitting in a cabin in the woods, while the rain is pooring outside, relaxing? You basically get what you're paying for, and for that price you really can't complain over what you get.
This is a nice relaxing little experience. I've been looking for this kind of thing in VR, especially the rain room, where I can sit in an environment and chill. I would love to see more titles like this. The developer is listening to the community and will be adding more scenes. The latest update improved the graphics and performance quite a bit.
well. its not as pretty as i thought and missed frames pops up A LOT, but its just released maybe in time?
This is one of those hidden gems that's now free. From reading previous reviews the devs seemed to have removed a scary message from the game, Which explains why I didn't find a single page in the woods. All joking aside for free you get a mountain with birds, and the map seems large enough for me. Not the best detail to be sure, but at least there's space to roam in. And the mist on the far mountain range and the birds were pretty good. There's a rainy cabin where you can sit by the fire, toss the coffee cup about and enjoy the physics or watch it rain. It's actually the best rain detail I've seen in VR, so good job! There are also misty woods and the best part was the fireworks. The lobby was neat too. Look up! It's kind of a pity it wasn't kept going as it seems to be the grandfather of all the music and meditation apps out there. It's true that there are other apps out there that do more, but for free it's something nice to play around in. It's just kind of a shame to see the devs stopped. Still, the fireworks and rain are worth the visit. Ditto the woods. I'm sure I'll find the lost pages if I keep looking.
Vistascapes VR is a free VR experience. It worked on my HTC VIVE system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Has four relaxation/meditation experiences you can visit. I got this for free, but i guess this program was paid product at one time, that is why there is many negative reviews on this. CONS: Does Not work with Index controllers. Try this for a quite space experience.
