Vincent the Vampire is a gritty point & click adventure with dark, sarcastic humour. It appears to have been stuck in a loop of development hell since at least 2014 after multiple failed Kickstarter attempts. Unfortunately, it is not a fully complete project and has been plagued by financial constraints. However, I greatly admire the Indie development teams commitment and resilience in their passion project and believe the game has great potential. While some elements may be missing and there is no shortage of bugs, it is priced fairly with updates and bug patches being implemented when financial constraints and time pressures allow. My overall impression of the game is a rather mixed one, but I do truly hope to see these fellow Australian developer(s) find success in their future endeavours. Pros

Grungy & dark setting, but with humour mixed in
Australian developers & voice acting (definitely biased ... xD)
Classic, inspired art-style
Cons

Abundance of bugs
Missing voice lines & other features
No hint system

If you would like to see more reviews written by me, please follow my curator page and help support my work Cookie Reviews.

Story
Meet Vincent. Your average bloke with an office job, no ambition, no life goals and nothing really going for him. Bit harsh? I think so, but that’s precisely Vincent. His dead end job requires him to photocopy pointless documents to hand to his boss, who stands a few steps from the photocopier. He hates it, but what can you do? One day, he snaps and decides to get fired which results in everyone losing their jobs. Depressed and miserable, he heads over to the local pub for a bevvy and finds himself in a bizarre situation. He is dead…. and is now as the title succinctly states, a vampire! This game is weird. Vincent is weird. The game universe is weird. Do not go into this game expecting logical happenings… that is nowhere to be found here. The humour here is certainly not for everyone and although it is light-hearted, it is filled with sarcasm, irony and satire. Most scenes feel as if they are taken from some sort of bizarre skit, but I mean this in the best way possible.
Gameplay
Vincent the Vampire is a point & click adventure with many puzzles. It uses the classic inventory-based and exploration puzzles to progress. There is no hotspot locator, hint system, objective list or other common features in P&Cs. I did not find gameplay to be very intuitive and without a hotspot indicator, I would miss interactions and be stuck for too long. Often having to pixel hunt or slowly push my cursor around the screen to find anything I missed. I believe there was a control for hotspots in the tutorial, but this no longer worked later in the game. No hint system is a bit tricky as well as there are no instructions or ways of remembering what to do. Whilst my description is quite constructive criticism, I greatly enjoyed the story and aesthetic of the game, moreso than the gameplay but I do believe that gameplay could be improved with a few additions. Bugs Developers are actively updating and fixing bugs as they are reported, as well as adding in additional content such as voice lines. However, I still experienced ample issues in 2 hours. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3262269037 The pathing for Vincent seems to be all over the place. If trying to move upwards, he looks like he is in the skybox. Click too far to the left or right and he is going off screen through a wall. Sometimes necessary interactions just fail to trigger unless you restart or just repeatedly try. Voice lines repeat themselves unnecessarily. Returning to old areas seem to trigger old cutscenes that you had already experienced.
Visuals & Sound
The grungy artstyle combined with the wacky, overly dramatic characters is always a nice touch. Combining the stereotypically serious & dark with comedy, especially that of breaking the 4th wall often made me laugh. Developers also make fun of their financial constraints and add a character that comes onto the screen when “an animation is too expensive to do.” This creative expression is something that I have not seen before, but after reading about the games fight to debut, I appreciate the dev(s) being able to have a joke about this topic at all! Props to them. Now for the audio… it is the most obvious lacking component in the entire game. Some dialogue is voiced, some is not and this can be quite disconcerting when a character may say one line, but not the next. Or the character you are conversing with speaks and you, do not. Lines are clearly recorded on differing equipment, likely due to the extended development time and sometimes it sounds studio quality, but the next its like someones scuffed airpods while they’re sitting with them in their pocket. There is no consistency in any of the voice actors as each of their recording equipment varies and some were quite unbearable to listen to. Voice acting is purposefully overly dramatic and satirical. With the classic aggressive, bimbo-esque Aussie reception woman. A dumb sounding boss and the narrator generally sounding dead inside. The Australian accents and phrases top it all off and are easy stereotypes for me to recognise, being Australian too, but I am not so sure for an international audience. I have already seen comments about the voice acting being “amateur” and “unpleasant” and they are, and can be… but that seems to be part of the point. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3262269079 Since the Developers have had such struggles to push this across the line, I do not see why voice acting was kept, as in its current state, being unfinished, it really detracts from the game as a whole. I liked the lines that were there, but unless it’s all there, I personally think it would have been better to be completely scrapped and then added all together as an update at a later stage, when feasible. No Replayability value: No
Conclusion
Vincent the Vampire is an Indie point & click that has truly struggled to be released. To be stuck in development hell since at least 2014, and to have the developer(s) continue to work on the project, despite not having the funds to truly bring their passion to life, is admirable. The satire and setting in the game is not for everyone, but they were one of my favourite elements. However, with many bugs, unfinished voiced dialogue and some core P&C elements missing, it is difficult to completely recommend. In contrary, it is fairly priced at only $AU7.50 with more updates and patches to come. It is a difficult landscape for Indie developers and I definitely acknowledge and applaud their unwavering resilience. This is a great example of indie games that deserve our attention, especially when we start to get sick of antics from the big game houses. The 1.0.240122 release of VtV (from the Jan 2024 launch) isn't completely smooth and bug-free, but it sets an awesome atmosphere and brings across a great sense of humour if you have the patience. Anyone who loves this genre and spends a few hours solving their way through this game will be glad they did.
A great indie point n click which is bold enough to express a more quirky sense of humour!
No... I cannot say I enjoyed this game. The voice acting is only in the prologue and the gameplay and creation very amateurish. Refund after 30 minutes of gameplay. Definitely not worth the price
A very charming puzzle game, character designs are unique and fun to look at. The dialogue manages to be consistently enjoyable and the art style is very reminiscent of 90's and 2000's games.
Slightly difficult at times due I think to some unfinished bits. Some things you need to find by clicking on the hitbox without any visual clue and one spot that you seemed to have to brute froce which was pretty annoying (Maybe I'm dumb) But I like the art and voicing. I hope the developers stick with the patches. And don't ever add cutscenes I really like the narrator. :)
Really hits the nostalgia for DOTT and other point and click adventures. Properly funny with a surprising ending. I played on both an M1 Mac and a less powerful Windows laptop, and to be honest it ran like trash on the Mac. Hope this improves in the future.
Overall I had a great experience with this game. There are some bugs, sure, but felt like I could overlook these bugs because I really enjoyed the humour of the writing. I enjoyed the simplicity of the point and click adventure mixed with the level of dark humour in Vincent. I feel the price point is fair for the game.
Warning: A couple of scenes involving suicide Updated on 26th September 2025 to a recommendation: Mind you, Vincent the Vampire isn't perfect by my standard; some of my main criticisms of it still stand, as I mentioned before from the review I've completed before (that you can read below). Like the story not being longer, so it can focus on Vincent being a vampire and his personal struggle. Furthermore, some bugs remain here and there. As annoying as fixing bugs can be, the developer could have lifted all this a while ago, leaving the game the way it is. But they still continue taking bug reports and fixing them as soon as they can. I don't know about you, but that shows commitment and love for their product, and that should be credited. Now, I am satisfied you should be able to complete the game smoothly, which was my main certain before with the state it was in, but if you do ever get stuck, you can use the guide that the developer finally completed to help you. As to the reason you should play this, the fourth-wall-breaking developer is still funny as always. If anyone is stressed with depression and hopelessness, maybe this game could be something to dampen the mood, or maybe finding ourselves relating to a character, even if they are fictional, could go a long way to feeling a little less lonely. I'm sure all could find a little bit of ourselves in Vincent. But please be cautious with the warnings when playing this game

Old Review on 15 May 2025, not a recommendation: What happened to the insane chicken in the beginning? I demand an answer. Where do I start? Well, this game has a lot of bugs, and I mean a lot. Some funny, like the main character you're controlling overlapping with the background, or them moving sideways to a location every time you load up a new save file. Other bugs did tarnish gameplay, like items not being where they should be when I check multiple times (like in one of the locker doors), but only appear randomly for no reason after I do a few tasks before. Or the time, you can repeat the main plot scene you've already bypassed before by selecting dialogue choices you've already made. Due to that, I am inclined to save ever so often in case I run into a game-breaking bug. This game is messing, I'm not gonna lie, but it made up for the fact that the developer is forthcoming about it by making some funny fourth-wall-breaking jokes about the budget constraint, like, rather than animating something that would take time and save money, they describe the event that occurred. That's very creative as an excuse to make that type of humour. There are also many other types of jokes like bad puns, self-awareness and sarcasm. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3479408383 If you didn't know, we play as Vincent
, who later got turned into a vampire to be used as a pawn, hinted at by the name
, who accidentally started investigating a murder that's been going around, where the victim is lifeless without an aura around them. Throughout the story, the game started to take itself seriously with Vincent getting depressed over
(which just lost), his brother not caring about him, his family not listening to him and his crushes having little regard for him
. Knowing that it's understandable to see how like he came to terms with harming his body. Even without knowing beforehand, I can feel how very personal this game is for the developer. You can tell this is a self-insert, which is one of the reasons I feel bad for not recommending this game, because I don't want to discredit any feelings they must have had being going. Making games is not an easy task, especially if you lack the capital, mouth of the world and support to make it a reality. Video games are a form of expression that some people can relate some may find it harder to understand, depending on how it is constructed. This game may be too personal for my comfort. I'm not sure how I feel about this. It's like I'm invading someone's inner mind, even though they gave you a consented invite. I was entirely surprised that this game was reaching a climax once we were done investigating the werewolves. This lovely world that is filled with characters like the reaper, ghosts, talking skeletons, vampires, cyborgs, werewolves, an alien in disguise, all sorts, that probably shouldn't be together like but it somewhat works, feels short-lived to let go so soon. I was hoping we could investigate some other faction with different creatures and mythical being clans, but of course, it probably ended quickly due to budgetary reasons. That may be why it started to feel aimless and directionless towards the end. This game probably hit too close for me because of how suddenly all these negative feelings came around. But do not worry, the developer is still around and making improvements, like adding some VA and fixing some bugs til this day. In its current version, I can't recommend but keep this under you radiant because you never know some games may surprise you, and I may revisit this in the future to see any major updates. I have hopes.
too buggy unfortunately :/ really great graphics and story seems solid. but too many bugs so it's impossible to know if something is broken or i can't figure it out.
