Hands down one of my most favourite flash games! Had lots of fun playing it and am very excited about this remake! Get yourself a copy of this cute adventure game!
A blast from the past! I played this when it was originally on Newgrounds, and it was a great little time waster. The remake is quite delightful thus far as it has a bit of added content. This game is full of easter eggs and pop culture references which is what I expected from I-Mockery in the past. Its great for a laugh and plays very well so far. Ill be finishing the game in the next day or two. I just wish spirit halloween had a decent Commander Claw outfit for sale.
The graphics are great, especially if you like classic style or the classic flash text adventure games, this is right up your alley. If you ever get stuck, I recommend using a the Newgrounds Wiki: Trick-or-Treat Adventure! guide. Keep in mind there are very few differences, one being that Guybrush says "goat" instead of "dairy," to which you should respond with a "B-a-a-a-a-d." And also make sure to pick up the shovel, thank you for the tip Nick! I would have been stuck without it.
Fun game that has been revamped from Newgrounds yesteryear! If you enjoyed the original you will enjoy this one, or if you like point and click adventure games it will definitely scratch that itch as well! Love the new art and quests, just wish my hands could keep up with the timed puzzles better! Great for Halloween and a nostalgia trip down memory lane from the '80s and '90s!
First of all, let's get one thing straight. This game isn't about your modern, sanitized Trunk-or-Treat Halloween. This is about the kind of Halloween we 80's kids remember, when there was no curfew, every candy bar potentially contained a razor blade and the only things standing between us and certain death were a glow stick and Roddy Piper's safety tips (R.I.P. Hot Rod). When we knew the joys of piecing our costume together from whatever was hanging on a peg board at your local drug store because we couldn't decide what to be until 6 pm on October 30th. This game is an amazing tribute to the point and click adventures we used to play, but with all the dark humor and gore those cowards left out. The puzzles can be surprisingly challenging and the point and click action is broken up by some creative minigames. There are multiple dialog options for every NPC you meet, and you get rewarded with context-specific text for looking at, talking to and grabbing almost EVERYTHING in the game. You can easily spend a couple of hours just exploring all the little details in every screen. Even after you beat the game, it's fun to play through again knowing all the tricks. Final note: Sure, this game is Halloween themed, but it's also just good fun, and fun doesn't have a season. Play this game at Halloween. Play it at Christmas. Play it on Grandparents' Day. Any time you feel the need for a fun game with a little challenge and a lot of humor, this one is always a good choice.
What a great Halloween game. I love all the references and Easter Eggs. I like all the graphics too. It's all just so much fun.
I picked the game up the day it came out but waited until Halloween evening after the festivities were done to fire it up. This was a fun little point-and-click adventure game, loaded with nostalgia for classics of the genre, 80/90s pop culture, old horror movies, and the Old Internet we all yearn for. There were a few spots where I got stuck for a bit, but it was almost always due to me overlooking something obvious that made me go "Oh, duh" and slap my forehead, and I was ultimately able to get through the game completely on my own without needing to look up any solutions. My non-spoilery recommendations to players would be: 1. Don't be like me and assume you have to use an item on small spaces to get something out of them. Just use the regular hand icon to interact with them first to see what happens. (I got stuck for a while because I needed an item that I could have so very simply gotten much earlier.) 2. Pay attention to what all the random trick-or-treaters on the street say. A lot of them are just there for fun, but there are a few who who need to be given an item, and they always give a clue that this is the case in their dialogue. (I got stuck for a while because I blew through the dialogue of one Trick-or-Treater without paying attention, only to later talk to him again and realize he very clearly implied that one of the items in my inventory was something he wanted.)
