Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
This is a collection of mini-games, although the main game is a Tower Defense game of varying difficulties. You can throw axes, bombs, or shoot your bow & arrow. You can also teleport to different vantage points. Different enemies will walk or fly towards the gate. You're supposed to kill them before they reach the gate. There's also some other mini-games including a "golf" one which is just hitting this rodent thing with an axe over some bars. There's also this other mini-game where you teleport from boat to boat, to avoid the cannon shots. Anyways, all the mini-games are dated. This game released in 2017 but the mini-games feel like they were from 2016. Even in 2016 though, there were much better TD games / mini-games than these. The axe throwing mechanic here is awful. The bow & arrow has a very simple, but dated now mechanic. There is a nice variety of enemies, but they all act dumb just walking to the gate, plus the scales are off for many of them & also different parts of the map. It's just an ugly game as well (although by 2016 standards I'm sure it looked fine). Game is running on the Unreal Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting steady 90 fps. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs, there's several people complaining that this doesn't work on the Meta Quest 2, but all I did was start this from my Steam library and I had zero issues. There is only nodal locomotion. There is no smooth or snap turning. There's some graphical options in the settings. Overall, this may have been fine back in 2017 when it released, but I also know there were better VR games even back then. Now in 2022, this is just a collection of out-dated TD / mini-games that have been done better and you can even play Rec Room for free and you'll have a much better experience with mini-games (if it weren't for the screaming kids without parental supervision running around). This is just bad now and not worth the download even if you bought it and just haven't gotten around to playing it (like me, but I will quickly uninstall and never play this again now). Rate 3.5/10. I believe I bought this game in a VR bundle so at least I didn't pay much for it, but honestly, I wouldn't recommend it at any price.
If you enjoyed my review, please consider joining my Steam Curator Group. Low grade wave shooter. Animations on enemies are terrible.
Not sure if anyone else is experience the same, but for me the screen is very unstable (shaking) and the aiming with the axe is also impacted by that... so it is not only that the screen shake is very annoying and causing dizziness but it is also very difficult to target with the axe as it almost never goes where you want it to (the bow still works). If devs give me a hint that would stabilize the screen I would change my raging, but until then this is a NO for me. There is no other game that had this issue for me. I am using a Quest 2 with AirLink.
This game pegs the Yikes meter. Dev took 3 1/2 years to "investigate" broken achievements and put out an update. Once that update came out it reportedly broke all achievements entirely. I finally got around to trying it myself, and the game no longer works at all with my Index. It doesn't recognize the controllers.
I have problems on oculus quest 2 using air link. I can't move. Developer can't help. It's bugged.
I bought this game for $2.69 It's really not a very good game. There is some potential, but the axe-throwing is all wonky.... I wouldn't recommend this.
Viking Rage is a fun game, but plagued with bugs. Numerous crashes, weapons glitching and the rare being stuck at the end of a level ruin an otherwise ok game.
The game has potential. But poorly implemented, at the moment. Looks like someone just wants to make money. I bought it through a sale so I don’t regret it and I hope developers won’t be lazy to make a really good product in the future. Tested on Quest 2.
