The weathers great, there’s a warm tail wind blowing in the sunshine, the Viking brothers Everland and Boromere along with their friends set sail in the Drakkar across the seas looking for a new adventure. Then from out of nowhere the skies darkened, and huge waves appeared on the horizon, cold winds rip through the sails. The brothers look around their new surroundings, the Drakkar is shipwrecked on rocks along unfamiliar shores. All they see in all directions is a frozen wasteland, ice floats just offshore. They need to fix the Drakkar if they are to return to their homeland, so they set of in search of resources. This is where your adventures with the Viking brothers begins …
Starting a new game, you’ll need to choose as name for yourself after which you’ll be taken to a world map. On the map is a winding path which makes its way through several regions. Within each region are numbered points, these are the levels you’ll need to clear as you make your way through the regions. Starting at Level One you have some objectives to complete, Making a fishing hole, Inspect the Drakkar and Collect the cargo (three of them). After some text (which you can skip should you wish too) they’ll be some popups which act as a tutorial to help you play the game.
You start at the Vikings base camp, from here you need to clear the road in front of you. The road is full of resources, like food, wood, iron and other obstacles, such are broken bridges, potholes and boulders. Collecting each resource and fixing broken bridges or ladder will let you move one step forward, opening new areas on the level. Some though you’ll need a certain number of various resources before you can collect or repair. To help you know which resources are required you can hoover your mouse cursor over something, and it will reveal what is needed to build, repair or collect them.
Also, around each level are places where you’ll be able to gather more resources, Mines, Farms and Woodyards. If you build or repair them, they will give you much needed resources. Sometimes you’ll be able to upgrade the mines etcetera along with your base camp. Upgrading these will give you more resources and if you upgrade your base camp, you’ll increase the number of Vikings you can have running around the level collecting and building for you. There are also Magical Chests, Merchants and other buildings where you can collect resources. The Magical Chests will give you the option of which resources you can take from it, after which you’ll be able to return and claim some more after a short time period. There are other chests which you can collect from which only have one type of resources. You can trade with merchants for resources you require for those you might have plenty of, depending on which merchant has what.
Each level has objectives to complete before you can move on to the next level. There is a time limit to compete against, the time is divided in to three parts. The quicker you do it the better and if you complete the level before the timer runs out. On the first time section you’ll earn three stars, two stars for the next time limit and one star if the time runs into the last time section. If time runs out, then you’ll have to replay that level again, these stars will be required as you move from one level to another, if you don’t have enough stars then you’ll not be able to proceed.
You make some new friends as you make your way through the new lands, one of these friends is a squirrel called Ratatoskr. He’ll help you fetch certain items your Vikings can’t reach; you’ll need to clean a path to him before he’ll be able to help you. There is also a mini game where you’ll control him to catch falling acorns, some of them gold. There is also another mini game you can play called Chipmaster, a popular game in the Edda Universe. You can play these mini games after reaching certain level and by selecting the Jig-Saw pieces on the side of the world map.
Also scattered on certain levels are some owls, clicking on them will then add them to a collection of owls which can be found from the main menu and selecting the X button. Also here are some Wallpapers and Music which you can look and play and download them. There is also a walkthrough for all sixty-five levels explaining the objectives and some other information. You will also find Characters here, showing all twenty-six of them detailing some information about them.
There is also a Bonus Adventure you can play but you’ll need to complete the main game first before you can play it.
In the options you’ll find Sound FX and Music sliders, System Cursor, Full Screen Mode and Show Hints check boxes.
The game is relaxing and enjoyable to play for all ages, the storyline, music and sounds are good with nice graphics. Give it a bash!
